The Atlanta Braves won Game 1 of the 2021 World Series but lost Charlie Morton to a leg injury in the process, hampering their pitching depth for later in the series and exposing some of their bullpen. The Houston Astros, meanwhile, were unable to rally from an early 5-0 deficit and ultimately lost, 6-2.
The Astros will look to bounce back at home tonight in Game 2 behind Jose Urquidy, who is making just his second appearance of the postseason. The Braves will turn to Max Fried, who’s coming off a rough start against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS but was outstanding for much of the second half.

Houston Astros Moneyline (-125) at DraftKings
I strongly believe the Astros will find a way to even this series up in Game 2. Their right-handed dominant offense will not stay dormant forever, especially against a lefty after ranking as MLB’s top-hitting team versus southpaws. Fried looked beatable against a similarly-constructed Dodgers lineup in the NLCS and I’m liking the odds of a repeat performance.
Houston has also been outstanding at home (55-32) all season and has not lost consecutive home games to the same team since early August. The Astros will figure it out at the plate and I’m backing them on the moneyline.
Under 10.5 Total Runs, Alternate Total (-170) at DraftKings
The current standard betting total is 8.5 according to our MLB gameday odds, but buying two points is the play here. The Under hit by just half a run in Game 1 and I’m expecting it to be close to the betting total again in Game 2.
Buy some cushion and take the alternate total at 10.5. Fried should pitch well enough to keep Houston’s bats from exploding, and I’m also expecting Urquidy to surprise with a solid performance.

Freddie Freeman to Get a Hit (-180) at DraftKings
Freddie Freeman is a man who needs no introduction. One of the best hitters of his generation, Freeman is red-hot at the plate with seven hits in his last 16 at-bats.
As long as the Astros don’t pitch around him too much, Freeman has an excellent chance to get at least one hit tonight.
