NHL Props of the Day: Best Hockey Props Today 10/18/21

New York Rangers @ Toronto Maple Leafs (7:00 p.m. ET)

Adam Fox: Over 0.5 Points (-180) at Caesars

Adam Fox is the Rangers offense from the blue line, and that’s not about to change. Through the team’s first 3 games, he already has 3 points (one of which was a goal). The reigning Norris winner can do it all, and if New York is to win this game, he’ll have to be at the forefront of it.

He was a major factor in the Rangers’ first win on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens, as he exited the zone with the puck and found a streaking Mike Zibanejad who threw a perfect pass to Alexis Lafreniere to take the lead in the third period. That goal would eventually stand as the game-winner, but it goes to show how important Fox is on a nightly basis.

Fox is also rocking a 2.51 points per 60 at 5v5 through three games, plus is shooting 11%. These can and will change as a larger sample size comes into view, but he should be good for at least a point in this one with the minutes he gets, plus the amount of time he spends in the offensive zone.

Calgary Flames @ Anaheim Ducks (9:30 p.m. ET)

Matthew Tkachuk: Over 2.5 shots (-125) at Caesars

Matthew Tkachuk is one of the three best players that will be playing in this matchup, which means everyone should expect to see his A-game. That includes firing a lot of shots on net and getting to the high-danger scoring areas.

Even though Calgary lost its opening matchup to Edmonton, Tkachuk was one of the lone bright spots as he finished with an assist and nine shots fired on target.

Even though none of those shots went in, he was still generating chances as his expected goals per 60 minutes so far for all situations is 2.13. Yes, I understand it’s a very limited sample size (one game), but he’s always been in the upper echelon for the league in terms of generating chances.

That all starts with firing the puck on the net and with how thin the Ducks are at defense this season, Tkachuk should have no problem doing that for most shifts he’s on the ice.

The trick will be getting it past John Gibson, who’s one of the best goaltenders in the league when he’s on.

St. Louis Blues @ Arizona Coyotes (10:00 p.m. ET)

David Perron: Over 0.5 Points (-140) at Caesars

The Arizona Coyotes have been dreadful to start the season, losing each of their first two games. One of them came in an embarrassing fashion after the team surrendered 8 goals to the Columbus Blue Jackets in their season-opener. Their struggles then continued on Saturday after the Buffalo Sabres took them down in a shootout.

Those two losses are the main reason why I have David Perron scoring at least a point. He’s obviously a great player (he finished with 58 points in 56 games last season), but Arizona has not done a good job stopping anyone thus far and they also ice one of the worst rosters in the NHL.

Perron should be able to do some damage, especially considering he plays in the top six and is already off to a rocking start. He finished with two assists against the Avalanche (one of the best defensive teams in the league), and now he’ll be going up against one of the worst defensive corps in the league.

You couple that with the Coyotes likely starting Carter Hutton, and this one almost feels too easy. Look for the Blues to get a lot of offense when Perron is on the ice.
