MLB Props of the Day: Best Baseball Props Today 9/10/21
Ian Anderson, SP, Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins (7:20 p.m. ET)
Ian Anderson has recorded just 10 strikeouts over his last five starts, including none in each of his last two outings. I am thus very surprised at the 5.5 posted prop tonight, as he has more walks (16) than whiffs (10) over his last five starts. Anderson also struggled the last time he faced the Miami Marlins on July 11, getting rocked for four runs on six hits and five walks in just 2 1/3 frames.
Anderson has recorded over 5.5 strikeouts only once in his last nine starts, averaging a mere 3.7 punchouts per start during that span. The data overwhelmingly points to the Under here, making this one of the best MLB prop bets today.
Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-125)
Wager: 1 unit
Framber Valdez, SP, Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Angels (8:10 p.m. ET)
Over 6.5 Strikeouts (+120)
Wager: 1 unit
One of the things I look for with an Over strikeout prop is a correlation between the moneyline and the total. We’ve got a great spot for Framber Valdez at home tonight with the Houston Astros a -200 favorite over the Los Angeles Angels and the total at 8 runs. It’s especially telling that the Astros are heavily favored even with Shohei Ohtani pitching for the Angels.
Valdez has gone over 6.5 strikeouts in three of his last six starts, so his numbers haven’t been overwhelming. This is more of a play on LA’s recent struggles, as the Angels are hitting just .215 over their last 17 games with a 25.4% strikeout rate. For Valdez to cash this bet he’ll likely need to go at least six innings, which he’s done in 14 of his 18 appearances this year.
