Quarterback is arguably the single most important position in all sports. In today’s NFL, that statement holds that much more weight in our current passing league. Even in drafts that did not have a Trevor Lawrence-type talent, quarterbacks were still the most coveted of positions, especially for teams that did not have one — cc the Rams and Eagles in that 2016 NFL Draft when they respectively selected Jared Goff and Carson Wentz.
That being said, the 2021 NFL Draft is loaded with quarterback talent as well as quarterback-needy teams. With quarterback prospects that include Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, and Mac Jones, we should see all five of the aforementioned signal-callers off the board in the first round. In fact, all five are expected to go inside the top 10.
If all five of those prospect signal-callers go inside the top 10, the question and wager comes to mind: Who deserves your pick for the first 2021 non-quarterback bet?

Best Bets For First Non-QB Drafted
We know that Lawrence is going No. 1 overall to the Jaguars. We also know the Jets will draft a quarterback with the smart money going in the direction of Wilson. The 49ers traded up to the third overall pick and despite the fact that I like to joke that they made the move to grab the best defensive lineman on the board, that is just not happening. San Francisco is also drafting a quarterback.
The first non-quarterback spot belongs to the Falcons at the fourth overall pick. If they stay put, they are linked to Florida TE Kyle Pitts. However, the Falcons are in a position to trade back and accumulate additional draft assets while still walking away with a game-changing talent, especially if they swap with the Broncos who hold the ninth overall pick.
In addition to the Broncos, the Washington Football Team, the Patriots, and the Panthers could also be in the running to trade up for a shot at a franchise quarterback.
Now it gets interesting. While the Bengals are in a similar position as the Falcons, a team that could walk away with a king’s ransom for their draft position, they are not rumored to be talking to anyone about a potential trade.
Therefore, with the fifth overall pick, the Bengals will be the team that breaks the run of quarterbacks that will dominate the top four picks in this draft.
Who will the Bengals select with the No. 5 pick?
Who the Bengals will take at the fifth overall pick could be the million-dollar question. Let’s run it back.

Kyle Pitts has the best odds of being the first player off the board with two potential landing spots — the Falcons and Bengals at pick four and five respectively. Neither team has to move to get him. However, since I believe Atlanta will ultimately trade back while another club moves up for a quarterback, the Bengals are left at five.
Cincinnati is heavily linked to both Ja’Marr Chase and Penei Sewell. Moreover, the Bengals also have needs for help on the offensive line and at wide receiver, with the former being more imperative And while they could also use a tight end upgrade, the smart money is on Sewell landing with the Bengals at five.
This leads us to Sewell. The elite offensive lineman is said to be one of the best prospects along the front five to enter the NFL Draft since all-world Colts G Quenton Nelson and the best tackle since Trent Williams. I’ve said this many times on my live stream podcast and in these articles: “what good is Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd, and Joe Mixon is Joe Burrow lands on the injured reserve list again?"
Although Burrow has campaigned for the Bengals to reunite him with Chase — the two played together at LSU — it would be wise for Cincinnati to get their elite franchise quarterback elite blocking.
