Women’s Olympic Basketball Odds

Last Updated: Aug 5, 2024

With the group phase out of the way, it’s time we look toward the gold medal matchup at the 2024 Paris Olympics. This year’s tournament features plenty of talented teams, but as usual, only one can take home the top prize.

The United States has looked dominant thus far, building upon its undefeated record in Olympic play dating back to 1996. Still, the competition has only just gotten started, and it won’t get any easier from here.

All basketball odds are current as of Monday, Aug. 5, and courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Who Will Win The Olympics?

United States (-3000)

DraftKings Sportsbook

There’s no need to overthink this one. The United States women’s national basketball team is among the most dominant in Olympic history, having won gold in nine of the last 11 Olympic tournaments. The program enters the quarterfinals on a 58-game winning streak.

The star power on this roster is off the charts, but A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart have established themselves as the leaders on this roster. Each is averaging 20.3 points and 2.0 blocks per game, highlighting their respective two-way abilities.

It would take an extraordinary, unprecedented upset to keep Team USA from winning another gold medal. This is a talented field, but this is as close to a sure thing as you’ll find. Toss this in a parlay and make this your basketball bet of the day.

Olympic Basketball Contender 2024

France (+2500)

DraftKings Sportsbook

After earning the bronze medal at the 2020 Olympics, France has a chance to build upon its recent success and podium once again in 2024. As the host country, this team has had some favorable crowds on its side as well.

WNBA fans will be familiar with a few names on this roster, perhaps most notably Gabby Williams, who has done it all for France thus far. The former UConn forward has averaged a team-high 13.7 points and 6.0 assists, and she’s also picked up 4.0 steals per game.

France went 2-1 in the group phase, dominating Canada and Nigeria before falling to Australia in its most recent outing. It’ll take on Germany in the quarterfinals before potentially playing either Belgium or Spain in the semis, putting the Blues in a good position to make it to the gold medal match.

Olympic Basketball Sleeper 2024

Germany (+5500)

DraftKings Sportsbook

Germany has impressed during Olympic play thus far, going 2-1 in the group phase with the lone loss coming to the United States. Unfortunately, this team has been hit with key injuries to Leonie Fiebich and Nyara Sabally, and it’s unclear when (or if) they’ll return.

Still, Germany remains a viable threat thanks in part to the presence of Satou Sabally, who’s averaging 21.7 points per game. She popped for 33 points in a crucial win over Japan, proving that she can put this team on her back when the situation calls for it.

However, while Germany could be in a good spot to compete for a spot on the podium, knocking off Team USA is another story. This bet may seem appealing at (+5500), but I promise it isn’t worth the investment.
