The 2023 MLB Futures Game will be played on Saturday, July 8, at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington. Major League Baseball’s most talented prospects will go head-to-head in a showcase of the game’s bright future.
28 prospects from MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 help comprise the 50 players in Saturday night’s contest.
Former Seattle Mariners greats Harold Reynolds and Raul Ibañez will manage the AL and NL rosters, respectively. Each player spent at least a decade with the M’s, with Reynolds earning two All-Star nods with the club in 1987-88.
Every MLB team has at least one representative at the game, with the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Milwaukee Brewers leading the way with three players each.
Top prospect Jackson Holliday leads the list of prospects playing. Five other top 10 prospects co-headline the game, with Jackson Chourio (3), Marcelo Mayer (5), James Wood (6), Jordan Lawlar (7), and Pete Crow-Armstrong getting to showcase their talents.
Let’s take a look at the rosters, players to watch, and predictions for the 4th iteration of the AL vs. NL Futures Game.

MLB Futures Game: Players To Watch
Every player named to this game has earned the right to play under the bright lights of All-Star Weekend. Below are a few to keep your eye on.
Jackson Holliday, SS, Baltimore Orioles
The 2022 No.1 overall pick in the MLB Draft is on a rocket trajectory to the majors despite being 19-years old. Holliday possesses a .989 OPS in 260 at-bats in High-A this season and could be on the big league roster as soon as 2024.
Take a swig if you’ve heard this before: Jackson is the son of former MLB All-Star Matt Holliday. It is within the realm of possibilities that he eclipses his dad’s career.
Junior Caminero, 3B/SS/1B, Tampa Bay Rays
Death. Taxes. The Tampa Bay Rays developing elite prospects. Junior Caminero has a .996 OPS across two levels of minor league play in 2023. He has also been asked to play multiple positions and has been a better infielder in Double-A after a rocky amount of play in High-A.
Caminero turned 20 July 5 and is expected to be a major leaguer sometime around the 2025 season.
Marcelo Mayer, SS, Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox has had a tough go at the plate since being promoted to Double-A (.196 BABIP), but has displayed better vision, lowering his strikeout rate like he has at every level of minor league baseball.
Mayer has a chance to be the next power bat at shortstop, and as a lefty, it would play well at Fenway Park.
Tink Hence, RHP, St. Louis Cardinals
Markevian ‘Tink’ Hence has one of the best fastballs in the minors, topping out at 98 MPH. If he can continue to maintain that velocity, he will be the best Cardinals pitching prospect brought up through their system in some time.
Hence was promoted to Double-A July 1, which will be his best test of velocity and stamina. He could make some of the older players in the Futures Game look out of place.
Jackson Chourio, OF, Milwaukee Brewers
As one of the youngest players in the game, 18-year old Chourio may have the best power profile suiting up Saturday. Chourio also has elite speed that projects to be on a similar level of Ronald Acuña Jr.
That type of power-speed combo is why Chourio will be given as long as he needs to figure out better pitching (89 wRC+ in Double-A).
MLB Futures Game Prediction
National League over American League
The National League has excellent pitching depth, so much so that their arms may look like they’re playing with their food in some at-bats.
The NL also has an odd amount of power-speed bats, which bodes well for the future of the Senior Circuit.
Jackson Holliday will hopefully get multiple turns against the NL’s arms, because that will be what most viewers will want to see.
What ultimately matters is that every player leaves the game healthy. It’s an exhibition to show off the future off baseball.
