The NFL preseason rolls on as the Raiders visit SoFi Stadium to take on the Rams. It would be surprising to see any of the regular starts for either team but there are definitely position battles to keep an eye on.
Let’s dive in on the odds, best bets, and news for this matchup.

Raiders vs Rams Predictions
Score Pick: Raiders 23, Rams 20
Both teams did not play any of their offensive starters in the first week of the preseason. The Raiders had a convincing 34-7 win against the 49ers and the Rams lost to their city rivals Chargers 17-34 in Week 1 of the preseason.
With the injuries to Cooper Kupp and Matt Stafford last season, it would be surprising to see either one featured during the preseason. Davante Adams suffered an injury during Raiders training camp and Jimmy Garoppolo is still recovering from his 2022 injury, so the Raiders may roll out the second unit this weekend again.
The Rams running back situation is worth keeping an eye on in this contest. Kyren Williams is listed as the current backup to Cam Akers but both Zach Evans and Royce Freeman are competing for the third spot and potentially the backup role.
This is shaping up to be another battle between second units, and I would give the edge to the Raiders in this game.
Raiders vs Rams Best Bets & Props
Rams +3.5 (-110)
Caesars Sportsbook • WAGER:1 Unit
In a battle between backup QBs, I give the edge to the Raiders. Aidan O’Connell drew the start for the Raiders against the 49ers and the rookie QB had an impressive outing with only three incompletions.
He was able to move the offense and along with Zamir White, the Raiders offense was tough to contain for the Niners.
The Raiders defense did restrict the 49ers to only seven points but that was more due to the play of Trey Lance and the 49ers QBs. Rams second string QB Stetson Bennett had 29 attempts last weekend against the Chargers and had 191 yards and a touchdown.
I expect the Rams to go with a more run-heavy offense and keep it close against the Raiders this weekend, making this my NFL Play of the Day.
Over 36.5 (-110)
Caesars Sportsbook • WAGER:1 Unit
The Raiders scored 34 points over the weekend against a 49ers defense that is usually pretty strong and the Rams just let up 34 points against the second unit of the Chargers. I think both offenses will be able to move the ball in this contest so I’m betting on the Over of 36.5 total points.
