Teddy Bridgewater Traded To Broncos: On Wednesday afternoon, the Carolina Panthers traded quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to the Denver Broncos for a sixth-round draft pick, No. 191 overall.
Bridgewater, 28, was Carolina’s 2020 starter and accumulated 3,733 passing yards with 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Obviously, this news comes just one day before the NFL Draft and in the wake of Carolina acquiring Sam Darnold from the New York Jets.
Teddy Bridgewater Traded To Denver Broncos: Betting Tips
The Denver Broncos acquired Bridgewater’s veteran presence to compete for a starting job. This trade also reportedly does not take them out of the running for a quarterback at No. 9 overall.
I’m told Teddy Bridgewater is coming to Denver to compete for the starting job. Also this move does not rule out the Broncos taking a QB at #9. It’s still in play.

Despite these reports, I would not bet on the Broncos drafting a quarterback in the first round. They probably would not have traded a sixth-round pick for a third-string quarterback and still employ last year’s starter, Drew Lock.
For Carolina, this move frees up a spot in the quarterback room. As of right now, Darnold is the starter with XFL legend P.J. Walker as the backup.
But Carolina also has the No. 8 overall selection which could be used on a quarterback like Justin Fields, Mac Jones or Trey Lance if they slip that far. Surely, they could punt on the decision to draft a quarterback this year while drafting some offensive line or receiving help to try and turn around Darnold’s career.
As far as NFL betting futures are concerned, Carolina’s NFC South division still likely belongs to Tampa Bay while the AFC West should be Kansas City’s yet again.

Teddy Bridgewater/Broncos/Panthers Fantasy Football Outlook
Drafting Denver pass-catchers like Courtland Sutton (fantasy football WR2/3), Jerry Jeudy (WR3) or Noah Fant (mid-to-low-end TE1 with upside) becomes a little more plausible now. If Lock goes down due to injury or incompetence, Bridgewater could keep their production afloat.
On the inverse, Robby Anderson, D.J. Moore and Christian McCaffrey‘s fantasy value remain unchanged as Darnold is the expected starter in Carolina with potential pressure to succeed from a rookie quarterback in waiting.
Neither Darnold or Bridgewater should be viewed as fantasy options in most re-draft leagues.
