Super Bowl 55 Exotic Prop Bets: Football Thrown Into Pirate Ship Cannon?

Last Updated: Feb 5, 2021

One of the most fun parts of betting on the NFL’s championship game is finding those unique Super Bowl 55 Exotic Prop Bets. Super Bowl 2021 Exotic wagers involve outcomes other than bets made against the spread, moneyline, or Over/Unders. This year’s Super Bowl 2021 novelty wagers are no different.

From Super Bowl 2021 vovelty bets on the Coin Toss, the color of Gatorade poured on the winning head coach — and even whether someone will throw a football into a part of the staging of Raymond James Stadium — Super Bowl bettors have plenty of exotic bets for the taking.

Here’s which Super Bowl 55 Exotics our lead NFL betting writers, Anthony Cervino and Pauly Parlays, are targeting for the showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Super Bowl 2021 Novelty props include the result of the Coin Toss, the color of the Gatorade Bath — and starting off with a wacky bet that makes use of the Buccaneers’ hometown Raymond James Stadium.

(Odds current as of Sunday morning)

1. Any Player to Throw a Football Into the Cannon Porthole During a Celebration (+5000) (PointsBet)

When I saw this Super Bowl 2021 novelty prop at PointsBet, I knew I had to mention it. It is so far-fetched yet so possible. Plus, (+5000) odds are terrific. You can literally wager $5 and get a $255 return.

While reports suggest that that the pirate ship at Raymond James Stadium will not be out of commission despite the fact that Super Bowl 55 is supposed to be played at a neutral site, we don’t know if they will actually fire the cannon.

What’s more, do they even need to fire the cannon for a ball to be thrown in it? No. To go even further, can a player throw a ball into the cannon? The answer is yes.

Per this tweet, former Buccaneers QB Chris Simms threw a football at the pirate ship and it got stuck in a cannon. Coincidentally, it happened in a playoff game. While he did get fined $2500 for doing it, I am sure it was worth it.

Other props players have used:

  • Sharpie markers (Terrell Owens)
  • Cell phones (Joe Horn)
  • Salvation Army Bucket (Ezekiel Elliott)
  • Lambeau Leap (everyone)
  • Faux Hall of Fame Jacket (Chad Ochocinco Johnson)
  • Pom Poms (Terrell Owens)
  • Marriage Proposal to Cheerleader(Chad Ochocinco Johnson)
  • Marriage Proposal to Kicking Net (Odell Beckham Jr.)

2. Color of Gatorade poured on winning head coach (PointsBet)

  • Orange (+125)
  • Red (+250)
  • Yellow/ Green (+400)
  • Clear (+700)
  • Blue (+900)
  • Purple (+1000)

Here is a breakdown of Gatorade colors dumped on winning coaches since Super Bowl 35:

  • Orange (5)
  • None (4)
  • Clear (4)
  • Yellow (4)
  • Blue (2)
  • Purple (2)
  • Red (0)

While orange is clearly the favorite, there is a surprise choice here. That is red. Since Super Bowl 35, red Gatorade has never been bumped on a coach. What’s more, there have been four Super Bowls in that time period in which no Gatorade was poured at all.

  • In the past 11 Super Bowls since Super Bowl 44, orange Gatorade was dumped on the winning head coach five times. In this time period, the only other color to be dumped twice was blue, which happened two times in six championship games since Super Bowl 49.

There are conspiracy theorists who believe red Gatorade could be this year’s color choice as both the Buccaneers and Chiefs have red in their uniforms. However, if you think back, the old Buccaneers featured that good old creamsicle orange.

The smart money, once again, should be on orange.

3. Method of victory (BetMGM)

  • Chiefs in regulation (-155)
  • Buccaneers in regulation (+145)
  • Chiefs in overtime (+1600)
  • Buccaneers in overtime (+2000)

Of the 54 previous Super Bowls, only 19 of them were decided by one score. Moreover, only one of them was decided in overtime, back in Super Bowl 51 against the Falcons — also a Tom Brady victory.

However, the Week 12 meeting between the Buccaneers and Chiefs was decided by three points. While the Chiefs won 27-24, this game was very close to entering overtime.

Despite the chance, the best wager is picking the team you think will win in regulation here.

If you like the Chiefs, you will get them at (-155). If you like the Buccaneers as I do, you will get them at (+145) odds.

4. Final play of the game to be a quarterback kneel (Unibet)

  • Yes (-200)
  • No (+159)

This is a simple yes or no wager. However, the odds lean in the favor of the game ending on a quarterback kneel-down at (-200) odds. In order for a kneel to happen, the winning team must have possession of the ball with the clock winding down, which is why I would rather wager the other side of the bet.

Getting (+159) odds if you don’t think the game will end on a kneel-down, it is the smarter way to go. Not only are you getting said, greater odds, but I can put together more scenarios at which the clock will expire other ways.

  • The leading team is forced to punt on the final play due to down and time remaining on the clock — for example, the ball is snapped to the punter, he runs backward and falls.
  • Even if the trailing team is down b more than one possession, they are not kneeling. They will at least run a play.
  • The trailing team is down by one possession and throws a hail mary or gadget play.
  • The final play is a kickoff.
  • And so on.

This one is cut and dry for me. If you are taking a shot on such an open-ended wager, then shoot for the moon (better odds).

5. Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones II to combine for over 99.5 rushing yards and 1+ touchdown (SugarHouseNJ and other BetRivers outlets)

  • Yes (+200)

If you’ve read my Super Bowl 55 Betting Tips and Props articles, then you should know that I am uber-high on Leonard Fournette and the Tampa Bay running game as a whole.

However, just in case you have forgotten, here is my case:

  • In three postseason matchups, Fournette has totaled 74+ yards with a touchdown, finishing with 100+ total yards and a score in two of those games. However, in playoff games rushing wise, Fournette finished with (93,63,55) while seeing carry totals of (19, 17, 12).
  • In Week 12 against the Chiefs, Ronald Jones carried the ball nine times for 66 yards while hauling in one target for 37 yards and a touchdown.
  • The Chiefs allowed the 12th most rushing yards per game (122.1) in the regular season while yielding 120.5 rushing yards per game in two postseason contests.

Although I like Fournette to have the bigger game, Jones will also be involved. For this bet, we need both players to combine for 99.5+ rushing yards and one touchdown. This is as close to a lock as it gets while garnering plus odds (+200).
