Washington vs Panthers Predictions Week 11 | NFL Pick of the Day

Last Updated: Nov 19, 2021

The Washington Football Team is coming off a monstrous upset in Week 10 over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Ron “Riverboat" Rivera struck again, as he went for it on fourth down toward the end of the game to secure the 29-19 victory. Washington was able to hold Tom Brady‘s offensive unit to just 19 points, while Brady himself had only 220 yards through the air.

The Carolina Panthers, on the other hand, are fresh off a victory over the surging Arizona Cardinals in which they scored 34 points. Arizona was only able to score 10 for the entire game, and while that may be because its offense was banged up, it doesn’t make Carolina’s win any less impressive.

Cam Newton played in his first game back with Carolina after signing with the team last week, and he made his presence felt right away. He scored a rushing touchdown and yelled “I’M BACK!" to all the fans in attendance, plus had a passing touchdown as well.

He’s expected to start against Washington, and with a full week’s worth of practice under his belt this time.

Washington is no slouch this year, despite having Taylor Heinicke starting at quarterback. That said, it’s going to be harder for the Football Team to stop Carolina’s offense, as star pass rusher Chase Young will be out for the season after suffering a torn ACL against the Bucs.

Let’s dive in to determine which team will come out victorious in our NFL pick of the day series.

Please note that all NFL gameday odds are current as of 11:00 a.m. ET on Friday, November 19.

Washington vs Panthers Prediction

Washington, as said above, is fresh off a 29-19 win over Tampa Bay, and it’s something the team badly needed. Before this win, Washington was 2-6 on the season and its playoff hopes were starting to fully fade away.

It has another winnable game here. The Panthers have been inconsistent as ever this season.

Receiver Terry McLaurin has been a freak of nature. He has 632 yards and four touchdowns on 49 receptions and has gone over the century mark three times this season.

Antonio Gibson will also be a player Carolina has to watch out for. He has five touchdowns and 506 yards on the ground on 135 carries. He’s also coming off a big-time performance against Tampa Bay, where he finished with 64 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.

Carolina will have to hope that its offense shows up for the second consecutive week. It’s a hard unit to get a read on, considering it scored just three points against the Giants a few weeks ago, but then 19 and 34 against Atlanta and Arizona, respectively.

Granted, this last one was the first with Newton, but it has the feel of Jekyll and Hyde. The Panthers are the sixth-worst team in the league in yards per game (320.9) and are also close to bottom-10 in points per game (20.5).

However, having Christian McCaffrey back for more than one game should do wonders for this offense, and he’s the main reason I’m taking Carolina here. It’s going to be hard for Washington to stop the run without one of its best players up front.

Prediction: Panthers 24, Washington 20

Washington vs Panthers Best Bets

Best Bet: Panthers -3.5 (+100) at Caesars

Wager: 1 Unit

The Panthers, as stated above, were a lot better on offense against the Cardinals, and I expect that to carry over a bit into this one despite the inconsistencies.

They’re fighting for their playoff lives at 5-5 in a very crowded NFC. As of right now, they sit in that final wild card spot with seven more games to go.

Carolina is also 5-5 overall against the spread this season, though only 2-3 at home. It’s been a coin flip for the Panthers this season, and I like this one to go their way by a small margin.

Best Bet: Over 43 Total Points (-110) at Caesars

Wager: 1 Unit

For this one, we have a case of both offenses coming off great performances, which should allow the Over to hit.

Carolina is playing a Washington defense that ranks in the bottom-five in opponent points per game. The unit has allowed 27.3 points per game, which is not going to win many football games.

For that reason alone, I expect Carolina to be able to score close to 25 in this one.

Carolina’s defense, on the other hand, has only allowed an average of 19.3 points per game this season. Even with that, the Over of 43 should be able to hit. Washington has explosive playmakers at running back and wide receiver.

Roll with the Over here and make this your NFL bet of the day.
