NBA Player Prop Bets 1/7/21: Marcus Mosher offers up Jan. 7 NBA player prop bet tips.
It’s another full slate of NBA action on Thursday night with a number of marquee games. To get you ready for all of the upcoming contests, here are three prop bets you need to make for tonight. (Odds and lines from PointsBet current as of Thursday at 8 a.m. ET.)
NBA Player Prop Bets 1/7/21
Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn Nets vs. Philadelphia 76ers
Under 28.5 points (-115)
Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 1.87)
Kyrie Irving has been phenomenal to start the season for the Nets. He’s currently averaging 27 points per game and shooting an incredible 50.4 percent from the field. On the surface, the Nets look like legit contenders in the Eastern Conference and they might even be the favorites with Irving and Kevin Durant playing at this level.
But they will get a great test on Thursday as they will take on the 76ers, who have the No. 1 scoring defense in the NBA. With their size, length and athleticism, they can make even the best offenses look bad at times. That is why it’s a safe bet to take the under on points for Irving in this matchup. He will certainly score into the 20s, but look for the Nets to lean more on Durant and some of their secondary scorers in this matchup.
D’Angelo Russell, Minnesota Timberwolves; Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, Portland Trail Blazers
To All Make 3+ Three-Pointers (+200)
Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 3.00)
If you are looking for a fun, long shot bet, consider wagering on Lillard, Russell, McCollum to each make three three-point shots in the Timberwolves-Trail Blazers battle on Thursday night. These are a few of the bester scorers and shooters in the NBA and all three of them can get hot from deep at any moment.
Together, these three players could attempt upwards of 20 threes in this contest and that makes this is a worthwhile bet. It’s also worth mentioning that the point total in this game is set at 232.5 points at BetMGM, so you know that a ton of points are expected in this game. Look for both of these teams to shoot 35-40 times from three on Thursday night.
Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets vs. Dallas Mavericks
Over 41.5 points/assists/rebounds (-114)
Wager: 1 unit (win would pay 1.88)
One of the best players in the NBA today in filling up the stat sheet is Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets. Last season, he averaged 20-10-7 and is only improving this season. He’s now averaging 24 points per game and the rebound total has skyrocketed to 12. With those type of numbers, he is a legit MVP candidate and has the potential to go for a triple-double on any given night.
On Thursday, he will face the Dallas Mavericks, who don’t have a player who can check him at all. Don’t be surprised if this is enough 30-10-10 game for the superstar from Serbia as he should be able to score at will. He should easily clear 41.5 points/assists/rebounds as this game projects to be a high-scoring contest in Denver.
