The Jazz are only a half-game ahead of the Nuggets for the No. 5 seed in the West, and nobody wants to finish sixth in that conference right now. The 6-seed is currently looking at a first-round matchup against the Golden State Warriors, who are one of the best teams in the NBA when they’re healthy.
A Jazz win tonight guarantees them the 5-seed since they own the tiebreaker against the Nuggets, who only have one game left on their schedule (Utah has two).

NBA Bets 4/8/22: Atlanta Hawks @ Miami Heat

This is an easy bet for me to take tonight and I’m surprised the Hawks are only favored by 1.5 points. With Miami already clinching the overall No. 1 seed in the East, I see no reason for them to roll out the likes of Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Kyle Lowry in this game.

The Hawks, on the other hand, are tied with the Nets for the 8-seed in the East and are only one game ahead of the Hornets who are in 10th. In short, they have everything to play for in this game and will look to take down a weaker Heat squad to give themselves a chance to sneak into the playoffs.
Back the Hawks to cover on the road Friday night.
NBA Bets 4/8/22: Portland Trail Blazers @ Dallas Mavericks
Best Bet: Mavericks -19 (-110) at Caesars

Yes, I know. This is an absurd spread to cover, even against a horrible team like the Trail Blazers. However, the Mavs have a lot at stake in this game.
They are only one game behind the Warriors for the 3-seed in the West. If they win both their games to end the season and the Warriors lose one, the Mavs own the tiebreaker and would clinch that third seed.
The Warriors have to play the Spurs and Pelicans on the road to finish their season. The Mavericks have a considerably easier schedule, finishing the season at home against the Trail Blazers and Spurs (looks like the Spurs will be playing spoiler this weekend).
Back the Mavs to put the Blazers away with ease, giving themselves a shot to clinch the 3-seed in the West.
