January 16 NBA DFS Picks on Monkey Knife Fight: Monkey Knife Fight (MKF) combines elements of daily fantasy sports and traditional prop betting to offer a unique array of contests daily for a multitude of sports, including 1/16/21 NBA DFS Plays.
With NBA season in full swing, MKF enhances the enjoyment of the hardwood with exciting opportunities each night to win cash based on your knowledge of some of the league’s top players.
The GameDay breaks down two MKF contests daily that we feel have profit potential. With Saturday’s slate featuring plenty of big names, here’s a closer look at two opportunities involving four of the most offensively explosive players on the slate:
January 16 NBA DFS Picks
Houston Rockets at San Antonio Spurs
MKF Contest: More or Less (Pick 2/2 correctly to win 3x your buy-in)
Christian Wood: Less Than 28.5 Points
There’s no disputing Wood has been excellent thus far in his first Rockets season, and he’s likely to reach even greater heights moving forward now that James Harden is in Brooklyn. Saturday, Wood will actually also be playing without John Wall (knee), and it’s unclear if trade acquisition Victor Oladipo will be available. It could all add up to another heavy-usage day for the big man, but even so, I don’t like his chances of exceeding this hefty number. Not only has Wood scored 27 points or less in each of his last eight games (out of nine total), but the Spurs come in allowing the eighth-fewest points per game (19.5) to centers, along with the 10th-lowest offensive efficiency (28.8).
DeMar DeRozan: More Than 20.5 Points
DeRozan is averaging 20.4 points per contest, and although he scored just 13 points against the Rockets in Thursday’s game, I like his chances of bouncing back Saturday. The Rockets are ranked in the bottom half of the league in offensive efficiency allowed to small forwards, while Houston is allowing the seventh-highest road shooting percentage (47.8) and eighth-most points (117.8) per road contest as well. Moreover, DeRozan has exceeded 21 points in half of his 10 games thus far, furthering his case.
Atlanta Hawks at Portland Trail Blazers
MKF Contest: More Or Less- Fantasy Points (Pick 2/2 correctly to get 2.5x your buy-in)
MKF Fantasy Points Scoring System:
- Point= +1 point
- Assist= +1.5 points
- Rebound= +1.2 points
- Steal= +3 points
- Block= +3 points
- Turnover= -1 point
Damian Lillard: Less than 44.5 Fantasy Points
Lillard is making his usual All-Star-caliber contributions across the stat sheet this season, but he’s struggling a bit with his shot compared to last season. Dame sports just a 44.2 percent success rate from the floor (46.3 percent in 2019-20), and although he’s put together some very impressive performances despite the below-average efficiency, his task is a tall one Saturday. The Hawks have been especially adept at making life difficult for point guards, allowing ones NBA-low 35.5 percent shooting, including an abysmal 26.5 percent shooting from distance. Atlanta also ranks in the top half of the league in points (21.9), assists (8.6), rebounds (6.7) and steals (1.7) per game allowed to PGs, which makes me lean in the direction of Lillard having one of his quieter games.
Trae Young: More Than 43.5 Fantasy Points
Young snapped out of a two-game funk against the 76ers on Monday with 26 points, but he put forth his worst performance of the season Friday against the Jazz. Young shot just 1-for-11 while recording four points, but I still like his chances of putting that outlier performance quickly behind him. The Blazers are allowing 46.8 percent shooting overall, along with 116.0 points per home game. Portland has also been highly generous to point guards, allowing ones 47.8 percent shooting, including a 41.8 percent success rate from behind the arc. Those figures have led to Portland also surrendering the second-most points per game (29.7) to the position, lending further credence to the notion Young should be in for a fruitful effort.
