Gonzaga vs Oklahoma Bet: 2021 March Madness Second-Round Pick. We’re onto the Second Round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament! The first eight games of the round yesterday did not disappoint, with half of the results being upsets.
After Oklahoma squeaked by Missouri in the First Round, they must now face an unbeaten Gonzaga team that has clearly been the best in the country all season long. A loss for the Bulldogs in this game would be a giant upset, continuing with the trend in the Second Round.
With such a large spread, betting on this game can be much more complicated than simply picking the winner. What can we expect from Monday’s Oklahoma vs Gonzaga game?

Not only does this game look to be a matchup of varying skill levels, this is a clash of very different playing styles. Oklahoma has an adjusted tempo of 67.3, ranking 224th in the country in tempo, per KenPom. Gonzaga has a tempo of 74.5, which is the fastest remaining in the tournament and the fourth-quickest in the nation. Combined with their top-rated offense, and it’s no wonder why this team averages over 90 points per game.
Gonzaga faced a tough non-conference schedule, including a game against Virginia. I believe this game is a good comparison. Much like Oklahoma, Virginia, plays with a slow pace. However, Virginia has both a better offense and defense than Oklahoma. Still, Gonzaga scored 98 points and won the game by 23.
While this was a long time ago, it shows Gonzaga is capable of keeping their pace even against one of the best at slowing things down. The Sooners just allowed Missouri to shoot over 40% from three-point range. If that level of defense shows up again, they may as well stay in the locker room at halftime.
The Zags will ride the hot hand of Corey Kispert to the Sweet Sixteen.
