Giants Sign Kenny Golladay
The Giants signed Golladay to add a legitimate number-one wide receiver to a skills group that includes Saquon Barkley, Darius Slayton, Sterling Shepard, and Evan Engram. This is a talented player coming off an injury-plagued season.
This move will help the team determine whether Daniel Jones is the answer at quarterback. Golladay should do wonders for Jones’s development as a passer. Jones throws a good deep ball and Golladay has the ability to make big plays downfield as well as contested catches, so this looks like a great fit.
Golladay caught 20-of-32 targets for 338 yards and two touchdowns in only five games for the Lions last season. In 2019, he broke out for 65 receptions, 1,190 yards, and 11 touchdowns on 116 targets in 16 games. He has every opportunity to reach or even surpass those totals as the new number one target for the Giants.
Giants 2021 NFL Betting Outlook
Giants to win NFC East (+450), on BetMGM
The Giants have the lowest odds to win the division despite this significant upgrade, making them a solid value here. This is a team that added Golladay to a strong group of pass-catchers and will get Barkley back from injury. Jones has a great chance to break out in this underrated offense.
The Cowboys are the favorites with Dak Prescott back, and Washington has improved with their signings of Ryan Fitzpatrick, Curtis Samuel, and William Jackson. We should also see the Eagles get better because of their high draft capital, but the Giants can match up with any team in this division.
Last year, the Giants defense really started to improve as the season progressed, allowing 25 points or less in 9 of their last 11 games. They have some talent up here with defensive end Leonard Williams as well as defensive backs James Bradberry and Jabrill Peppers. We could see this unit get even better in 2021 with continuity on the coaching staff. Head coach Joe Judge has this team playing hard each week.
If Jones can take the next step at quarterback, a division title is in this team’s range of outcomes, making them a solid value at +450.
