The Dallas Cowboys pick Micah Parsons No. 12 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft on Thursday night.
Cowboys Pick Micah Parsons No. 12 Overall In 2021 NFL Draft
After trading back two spots with the Eagles, the Cowboys deleted Penn State LB Micah Parsons with the 12th overall pick. In most drafts, you can make the case that Parsons was a top 10 pick. However, since this one was offensive-heavy. What’s more, Parsons’ off-the-field concerns, the linebacker with elite upside fell to the Cowboys’ lap at 12th overall.
Parsons may need work in coverage, but he can do a lot of things well. Not only is he viewed as an effective blitzer with blazing speed by scouting gurus, but draft analysts believe Parsons can emerge as the best overall defensive player in this draft.
A Cowboys defense that must improve if they are going to make any type of a legitimate run in 2021, Parsons is expected to play early and often. Parsons is in line to join Jaylon Smith and Leighton Vander Esch in DC Dan Quinn’s new-look defense.

Dallas Cowboys 2021 Win Total Bet
- Over 9 Wins (-140)
- Under 9 Wins (-140)
Although the Cowboys only won six games in 2020, they dealt with injuries on both sides of the ball. None more significant than the loss of QB Dak Prescott against the Giants early in the season. As long as their newly paid leader can stay on the field, the Cowboys have enough talent to win 10+ games, especially in the NFC East with Mike McCarthy entering his second year as head coach.
I like the Over on Dallas’ win total.
Dallas Cowboys Bet To Make Playoffs?
- Yes (-165)
- No (+135)
Since I have the Cowboys slated to win the NFC East, they will be a playoff team. However, even if a team like Washington emerges, if Dallas gets to double-digit wins, it should be enough to garner a postseason berth as a Wild Card team.
Cowboys To Win NFC East (+100)
As I had suggested in the two above blurbs, the Cowboys should be on their way to 10+ wins and a playoff berth. They get there by emerging as NFC East champions.
They already had the talent on offense, but they spent the offseason addressing defense by bringing in Dan Quinn as defensive coordinator along with two of his former players from the Falcons, Damontae Kazee and Keanu Neal, in the secondary. The addition of Micah Parsons will not only give the Cowboys stability at the second level, but his pass-rushing ability will also play a factor in Dallas’ defense taking a much-needed leap forward.
Dallas Cowboys To Win Super Bowl 56
Dallas Cowboys To Win Super Bowl 56 (+2500)
While the Cowboys are slated with (+2500) odds to win the Super Bowl, they are a better team than the bookkeepers are giving them credit for. The biggest factor in the Cowboys making a run is health. Their starters must remain healthy, contrary to their 2020 campaign to forget.
On top of overall health, Dallas’ offensive line must get back on track. It was not long ago in which the Cowboys’ front five was one of the best units in the NFL. Age and injuries hindered them in 2020.
Lastly, the Cowboys’ defense under DC Dan Quinn must find a way to take a step up. One of the worst units in the NFL last season, Quinn must find a way to get his defense from the back 10 to the middle of the pack. The Cowboys’ offense is talented enough to do the rest.
Not a recommendation for this bet just yet, but it’s close.
Micah Parsons AP Defensive Rookie of the Year 2021 Prop Bet (+500)
As we stand Micah Parsons has the best odds to win the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
As long as Parsons can keep it together off the field, there are no questions about his game-breaking ability when he is on it. If Parsons can improve in pass coverage, he could be an every-down player.
Considering the landing spot, I love the (+500) odds for Parsons to emerge as the best defensive rookie in this year’s class.
