Buccaneers Panthers Players to Watch
Buccaneers QB Tom Brady is poised to bounce back following what could be the worst outing and loss of his storied career last Sunday night.
In the loss to the Saints, Brady only managed 209 passing yards, his second-fewest of the season, a season-low yards per attempt (5.5), zero touchdowns, and three interceptions.
Although things are looking down for Brady and the Bucs, they must get back on track quickly. The Panthers are no slouch despite their record. After all, they did play the Chiefs to the wire last week.
In their last meeting back in Week 2, Brady only accounted for 217 passing yards with one touchdown and a pick. However, Tampa did pick up the win.
Carolina’s pass defense is allowing the 13th-most yards per game (247.4). They do present a tough matchup at times, but Brady and his loaded cast of weapons should be able to get on track and walk away with the season sweep, barring another catastrophic meltdown by the goat.
Panthers QB Teddy Bridgewater has had a rollercoaster year so far. Normally viewed as a game-manager, Bridgewater has showcased the ability to put up big-time production essentially for the first time in his career.
In fact, Bridgewater has played in the NFL for seven seasons. Through his first six years, he’s accumulated six games with at least 300 yards passing. He already has three games in excess of 300 yards in nine games played in 2020.
One of those 300-yard games this season came back in Week 2 in the first meeting with Tampa Bay in which Bridgewater threw for 367 yards with zero touchdowns and a pair of interceptions in a losing effort.
Although he threw for nearly 400 passing yards, most of them came in garbage time.
If the Panthers are going to have a chance to kick the Buccaneers while they are down, Bridgewater must play a cleaner game of football this time around and utilize his talented cast of pass catchers that now includes Curtis Samuel, who has suddenly emerged as a reliable and versatile weapon in the offense in the past three games.
Buccaneers Panthers Weather Report
The weather at Bank of America Stadium calls for a clear and sunny afternoon at the time of kickoff with a 6% chance of precipitation.
The temperature is forecast for 60 degrees with 3 mph winds blowing Northwest.
Buccaneers Panthers Bet Tips
BEST BET: Over 50.5 (-110)
While Tampa Bay employs the better defense, both the Buccaneers and Panthers will put explosive offenses on the field with the ability to score points at-will.
While Tampa Bay is averaging the ninth-most PPG (27.8) this season, they are surrendering 22.6 PPG, the ninth-fewest in the league.
Meanwhile, Carolina is averaging the 23rd-most PPG (23.3) this season while yielding the 15th-fewest PPG (25.1).
The Over is 14-6 in the Buccaneers’ last 20 games overall. The Over is also 7-1 in Tampa’s last eight games facing NFC South foes.

CONSIDER: Buccaneers -5 (-115)
I like Tampa Bay to win this game outright while covering the five points. Following their humiliating loss to the Saints this week, this is not only a must-win game for the Buccaneers, but they must also make a statement.
The road team is 9-4 against the spread in the last 13 meetings between the Buccaneers and Panthers. In this case, the Bucs are on the road.
The Buccaneers are 4-2 ATS in the last six meetings with Carolina.
PASS: Panthers Moneyline (+190)
This is another one of those enticing Moneylines in an intra-division rivalry that could always hit.
However, considering the factors — the Buccaneers are clearly the better team despite their erratic play at times, the Buccaneers are coming off an atrocious loss and the Panthers were dominated in the first meeting between these two teams earlier in the year — Tampa Bay should walk out of Sunday’s matchup with a win.
Tampa Bay needs it more as the Panthers are all but out of the playoff race.
Moreover, with Christian McCaffrey up in the air to play, it is hard to consider the Panthers a legit threat to win this game outright. Even if McCaffrey plays, there are no guarantees that he won’t be limited.
