The Cincinnati Bengals pick Ja’Marr Chase No. 5 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft on Thursday night.
Bengals Pick Ja’Marr Chase No. 5 Overall In 2021 NFL Draft
The Bengals reunited Joe Burrow with his college teammate in Ja’Marr Chase, adding to a talented young offense that already includes Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd, and Joe Mixon. Chase projects as an alpha No. 1 wide receiver.
Chase is a crisp route-runner with a strong release and the ability to make plays after the catch. He put up elite production in his sophomore season while catching passes from Burrow. Chase will fit right in on the perimeter with Higgins while Boyd goes to work in the slot.
The addition of Chase gives the Bengals one of the most exciting WR trios in the NFL. If Burrow can come back from a torn ACL without any limitations, this could be an explosive offense, especially with Joe Mixon back healthy.
Ja’Marr Chase 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook
Chase is an extremely talented wide receiver, but I’d temper your expectations in season-long leagues. I expect the Bengals to go with a more conservative approach on offense with Burrow returning from injury, leaning on Mixon and the running game, at least in the early stages of the season.
We also have to consider the risk that Chase could have a limited target share on an offense that already features Higgins and Boyd. On the other hand, this is an elite prospect who should have high touchdown equity, even in his first season. I’d consider him on the WR3/4 fringe.
Ja’Marr Chase Dynasty Fantasy Football Outlook
The sky is the limit for Chase in dynasty formats. I expect him to establish himself as the top option in this Bengals passing game. Chase is tied to Burrow for the next several seasons, which bodes well for his long-term outlook.
This is a wide receiver who should be a perennial threat to net 1200+ yards and 10+ touchdowns. I’d be looking to select Chase with the first overall pick in my rookie drafts in one-quarterback leagues and at second overall in superflex formats.

Bengals Win Total
- Over 6.5 (-110)
- Under 6.5 (-110)
The Bengals won four games last season. They’ve bolstered the O-line and added an alpha WR1 to their offense. This is an improved team that could win anywhere from 6-7 games, but I’d lean on the conservative side and go with the Under.
Bengals To Make Playoffs?
- Yes (+400)
- No (-550)
The Bengals are heading in the right direction with a young franchise quarterback and a stacked skills group, but they remain the worst team in a tough AFC North.
Bengals To Win AFC North Division Title
Bengals To Win AFC North (+2500)
The Bengals would need Burrow to have a breakout season in order to win the division, which is unlikely since he’s returning from a torn ACL.
Bengals To Win Super Bowl 56
Bengals (+10000)
The Bengals remain a long shot to make the playoffs, so a Super Bowl is absolutely out of the question at this stage of their rebuild.
Ja’Marr Chase 2021 Prop Bet
Ja’Marr Chase Prop Bet: Offensive Rookie of the Year (+1400)
It’s not worth it to lay a bet on Chase to win OROTY because this is primarily a “Best Rookie QB" award and he’ll also be competing for targets with Higgins and Boyd.
