Packers vs. Bengals Prediction

Since getting blown out by the Saints in Week 1 by a score of 38-3, Green Bay has figured it out. The offense has begun to fire on all cylinders, averaging just over 30 points per game in the past three contests.

The Packers enjoyed an 18-point victory over the Detroit Lions in Week 2, a close two-point victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3, and a 10-point win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night. They look to continue their run against the Bengals this week.

The Bengals starting with a 3-1 record has been a pleasant surprise, but they have yet to be tested against a team of Green Bay’s ilk.

Cincinnati started the season with an overtime victory against the Minnesota Vikings, lost a close one to the Chicago Bears, and then beat the Steelers 24-10 in Week 3 and Jacksonville Jaguars 24-21 in Week 4.

It will certainly be a test for Cincinnati this week to see if they are a legitimate force or not, as the Packers are undoubtedly the best team they will have faced through the league’s first five weeks of play.

I like the Packers to win outright here against the inexperienced Joe Burrow. Aaron Rodgers seems to have found his groove, and the Packers’ defense has been as advertised.

Betting Pick: Packers 27, Bengals 21

Packers vs. Bengals Best Bets

Best Bet: Packers -3 (-105) at DraftKings

The line opened at -3.5 at most sportsbooks, but if you waited you can now get a -3 line for this one. I strongly believe this will be a lower-scoring game and every point will matter, so avoiding the hook at -3.5 is a bonus.

The Packers are certainly a field goal better than the Bengals, and I think the spread might be a tad too lenient to Cincinnati, given their excellent start to the season.

Best Bet: Under 51 (-110) at BetMGM

While my final score prediction is very close to the betting total of 51, I believe in the under in this game. I feel that there is more offensive downside than upside in comparison to a 52-point requirement on the over.

Both offenses have shown weakness so far this season, and the Bengals’ defense has been excellent. Given that the better defense by DVOA (Cincinnati ranks 9th in the NFL) is going up against the better offense of the two teams, I envision the Packers being somewhat limited offensively.

They will still get their 25-30 points, but it won’t be enough to crack a combined 51.

Best Bet: Packers ML and Both Teams to Score 10 Points (-130) at BetMGM

The Packers are the horse-to-back in this race, as I have discussed, and it’s quite easy to envision both teams putting up a touchdown and field goal at the minimum. The juice on this prop bet is really easy to shoulder.

Packers vs. Bengals Same Game Parlay Picks

Same Game Parlay Odds: +425

Let’s take a look at our suggested same-game parlay picks with odds courtesy of DraftKings.

  • Packers -2.5
  • Under 56.5
  • Bengals Over 13.5 points
  • Packers ML 1st Half

Buying a full point on the Packers will be key here, in addition, to take an additional touchdown on the betting total. I think the Bengals are capable of scoring two touchdowns against Green Bay, and I expect the Packers to come out strong.

For all these reasons, I suggest this same-game parlay, with +425 odds on it being quite reasonable.
