Two NFC East foes will square off in Week 5 when the Dallas Cowboys (3-1) host the New York Giants (1-3). The first-place Cowboys have raced out to a fast start with Dak Prescott leading the charge, while the Giants are coming off their first win of the season after defeating the New Orleans Saints in overtime.
These two familiar foes already bring plenty of excitement to the table, but let’s try to add to the fun with the following NFL betting picks to consider. Please note that all Giants vs Cowboys odds and lines are current as of Thursday, October 7.

Giants vs Cowboys Prediction
After losing in Weeks 2 and 3 by a combined four points, the Giants finally got in the win column last week by beating the Saints in overtime on the road. It was an impressive comeback victory for New York, who overcame an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter despite missing wide receivers Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton as well as star linebacker Blake Martinez.
That should give them some hope heading into a tough Week 5 road matchup with the Cowboys, who have won three straight since losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Opening Night. The Dallas offense has been one of the best in the NFL despite losing Michael Gallup, while the defense appears vastly improved over last year’s lackluster unit.
Daniel Jones is playing better this year, but he’s still not on Prescott’s level as a signal-caller. Prescott hasn’t skipped a beat without Gallup, helping Dallas put up 77 points over the past two weeks combined.
The Giants have played better than their record suggests and could make things interesting, but it’s going to be tough for them to stop the NFL’s fourth-highest scoring offense, especially on the road without Martinez. Look for Dallas to notch its fourth straight win and remain atop the NFC East.
Prediction: Cowboys 31, Giants 20
Giants vs Cowboys Best Bets
Best Bet: Cowboys -5.5 (-140) at DraftKings
Wager: 1 unit
The Cowboys are favored to win this game by seven points according to our NFL gameday odds, which is a sizeable spread. Division games can be hard to predict, after all, and the Giants are coming off a galvanizing win. Accordingly, I’ll buy a point-and-a-half here to make this wager a little more comfortable.
In the end, expect Prescott and co. to put up plenty of points against the Giants’ defense en route to victory. But given how well Jones, Saquon Barkley, and others have played for New York, they should be able to keep things close, which is why I prefer the alternate line for this NFL bet of the day.
Tony Pollard Over 8.5 Rushing Attempts (-135) at Caesars
Wager: 1 unit
Pollard is a talented running back who entered this season having received limited opportunities during his first two years in the league. Playing behind Ezekiel Elliott, Pollard had amassed just 187 carries over that span and only reached double-digit attempts in a game three times in 16 games last season.
Although Elliott is still on the roster, Pollard has taken on a more significant role this year. He’s received at least 10 carries in three straight games, turning that into 60+ rushing yards in each contest. Given the success that he’s had, there’s no reason to believe that he will take on a smaller role this week.
Saquon Barkley Under 14.5 Rushing Attempts (-135) at Caesars
Wager: 1 unit
Barkley hasn’t been limited after suffering a torn ACL last season. He’s logged at least 53 snaps in three straight games, once again proving to be an important part of the Giants’ offense, whether it’s on the ground or in the passing game.
As often as Barkley has been on the field, he’s logged fewer than 14 rushing attempts in three of four games. The Cowboys have a prolific offense, so the Giants might be forced to throw a lot to keep pace. If that game script were to unfold, Barkley would likely be more involved in the passing game than receiving work on the ground.
Giants vs Cowboys Same Game Parlay Picks
Same Game Parlay Odds: +135
Wager: 1 unit
- Cowboys -5.5 at DraftKings
- Giants Team Total Over 13.5 Points at DraftKings
Adding to the Cowboys -5.5 alternate line, this is not a very high point total for the Giants to reach. Their offense has struggled at times, but they could be more aggressive in this game as they try to keep up with Prescott and company.
