Nick Chubb 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook
When discussing the best pure runners in the NFL, Chubb needs to be mentioned in the conversation. Outside of Derrick Henry, Chubb may be the best ball carrier in the league.
In his first three seasons with the Cleveland Browns, Chubb has yet to have a year where he averaged fewer than five rushing yards per attempt. Bringing down Chubb is no easy task, as he’s recorded 75 broken tackles in his career and has accrued 500+ yards after contact in each of his first three seasons.
Despite being sidelined for four games last season, Chubb still racked up over 1,000 rushing yards and set a career-high with 12 touchdowns, averaging one score per game. While he didn’t have much of a role in the passing game with only 18 total targets, he received more than enough volume on the ground to compensate. Cleveland was one of the most run-heavy teams in the NFL last year, using their strong offensive line to their advantage.
Chubb’s ceiling is somewhat limited by the presence of Kareem Hunt, who reduces his overall touches. But Hunt operates more in the passing game, ensuring that Chubb will continue to receive a healthy workload on the ground, especially around the goal line. With an extra game on the schedule, he could surpass 1,500 rushing yards for the first time in his career and will likely finish with double-digit touchdowns as well, giving him top-5 RB potential.
Nick Chubb 2021 Fantasy Football Draft Value (PPR)
While Chubb’s lack of receiving work limits his value in PPR leagues, his running production alone is enough to make him a top-10 RB, which is where he would have finished last year had he stayed healthy. Accordingly, Chubb should be viewed as a worthy first-rounder in fantasy drafts, which aligns with his current ADP. Chubb’s going ninth overall in PPR leagues as the eighth running back off the board. If for some reason he falls to the second round, don’t let him fall any farther.
