Dallas Cowboys 2021 Win Total Bet: Schedule, Changes, and Outlook

Dak Prescott is back, baby. With him in the fold, the Cowboys are favorites to win the NFC East.

Injuries were truly the story for last year’s team. On top of Prescott, 36 games were missed between the OL corps of Zack Martin, Tyron Smith, and La’el Collins. With a full offseason to get healthy, there’s little in the way for this team aside from their own limitations.

The Cowboys’ achilles heel is their defense. They were 23rd in DVOA last season, but that should improve this year. Dallas made a wise decision in selecting Micah Parsons with their first-round pick to shore up the LB corps which has been ravaged by injuries and underperformance. Jaylon Smith is a liability, and 2018’s first-round pick Leighton Vander Esch can’t stay on the field.

Parsons’ versatility will allow Dallas to move him around like a chess piece to cover, play the run, and even rush the passer. Keanu Neal is a welcome addition to this LB room as well given that he has familiarity with Dan Quinn and can play a valuable hybrid role.

Back to the offense — the WR trio is elite, Ezekiel Elliot should be better now that he’s in shape with a healthy OL (if not Tony Pollard is very solid), and Blake Jarwin is back from his torn ACL. They will play at a fast pace to keep Prescott from taking many hits or forcing scrambles along with scoring as one of the league’s best offenses.

The 2021 schedule is no cakewalk, but at least their divisional opponents include the Eagles and Giants. Of course, division games are never easy, but it would shock me if they didn’t take 3 out of those 4 games along with at least 1 versus Washington. Some other easy matchups include the Panthers, Vikings, Falcons, and Raiders. The rest of their games should be competitive with the toughest two coming against last year’s Super Bowl finalists, Tampa Bay and Kansas City.

Cowboys To Win OVER 9.5 Games In 2021-2022 NFL Season (-120)

Dallas is handily the best NFC East team (though, that does not always say much). This, along with their health, offseason additions, and schedule make for a smart bet on the over.

Mike McCarthy came off a bit rough around the edges last season, but in year 2 as head coach, we should see more of that early 2020 season magic offensively.
