The unranked Minnesota Golden Gophers (6-3) will head to Iowa City to take on the No. 19 ranked Iowa Hawkeyes (7-2) in this Week 11 college football matchup.
Minnesota has impressed so far this season despite being unranked. The Golden Gophers have won five of their last six games with the one loss coming in a 14-10 game against Bowling Green. Their last three games have featured at least one-possession victories over Northwestern, Maryland, and Nebraska.
On the other hand, Iowa has dropped two of its last three, only scoring seven points against both Wisconsin and Purdue. This Iowa team is quite good, but it has not been playing to its full capability these past few weeks. As Minnesota crushed Northwestern by 27 on the road, this Iowa team only put together a five-point margin of victory against the same Wildcats.
With the spread sitting at Minnesota +4.5, can the Golden Gophers pull off the outright upset? Or will the Iowa Hawkeyes find themselves once again and ensure their presence in the top 25 next week as they go to battle without their starting quarterback Spencer Petras?

Minnesota vs Iowa Prediction
This game is going to be a close one. Both of these teams are similar in a power rankings type of away, in my opinion.
Minnesota has the hot hand, but Iowa has the better overall team. With Minnesota on the road, I’m curious to see if it can handle Iowa or if Iowa continues its downtrend.
I believe there is a strong chance of Minnesota winning this game outright, but if Iowa shows up in a way it did to start out the college football season, there’s no telling which way this game will go.
Prediction: Minnesota 23, Iowa 19

I really like the way the Golden Gophers have looked these past few weeks and strongly believe they win this game outright. The Hawkeyes are capable of blowing this team out when they are on their game, but with the way they have looked the past three weeks, I just don’t see it happening.
Both of these teams are among the league’s lowest-scoring teams as well, making me want the points on Minnesota even more.
While I don’t think taking Minnesota on the moneyline at +170 (Caesars) is a bad play by any means, I advise taking the safer route and backing them against the spre
Best Bet: Over 37 Total Points (-110) at Betfred
This is one of the lowest betting totals we have seen this college football season, but all in all, it makes sense. In Iowa’s last three weeks, it has combined with its opponent for an average of just 30.3 points per game.
However, in Minnesota’s last three games, it has combined for 41.7 points per game. While these games are not particularly high-scoring by any means, Iowa did have 51 points four weeks ago against Maryland and Minnesota has had 34 and 41-point outputs in two of the last three weeks.
I’m taking the over more so because I believe the betting total is just too low as opposed to having a belief that these two teams have a shootout.
