The premier matchup of this week’s college football slate features No. 2 Ohio State (5-0) heading to Eugene for a Big Ten showdown with No. 3 Oregon (5-0) on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Buckeyes enter the matchup with the nation’s top-ranked defense, but this will be their most challenging test yet. Meanwhile, the Ducks are looking to strengthen their resume and prove that they’re one of the best teams in the country.
Only one of these two heavyweights can stay perfect. Here are the latest odds for Ohio State vs Oregon, plus my prediction and best bets for this must-see matchup.

Ohio State vs Oregon Prediction
Oregon 36, Ohio State 32
We’re entering Week 7 of the college football season, and the usual superpowers are dropping like flies. Still, we don’t really know what either of these teams are capable of. Ohio State and Oregon have both played relatively light schedules, with the Ducks’ win over Boise State standing out as the most impressive.
With that said, it’s not surprising that the Buckeyes are favored. Oregon has not blown out its opponents in the same fashion that Ohio State has, and while the Ducks’ offense is humming behind QB Dillon Gabriel, this group hasn’t been as explosive as anticipated.
Ultimately, this one may come down to how well Oregon can run the ball. The Buckeyes have held opponents to 72.6 rushing yards per game, and the Ducks can’t win on Gabriel’s arm alone. This is a veteran offensive line, though, and RB Jordan James is coming off his best showing of the season.
This will be a toss-up, and in those cases, I tend to side with the home team. I expect Oregon to be prepared and do just enough to squeak by Ohio State.
Sportsbook Play of the Day
Ohio State vs Oregon Best Bets
Oregon +4 (-108) vs Ohio State
The Ducks might not win this game, but I don’t think many are expecting the Buckeyes to win in a blowout, either. Talent aside, Eugene isn’t a particularly easy place for opponents to play. Oregon hasn’t fallen at home since November 2022 — a 37-34 loss to rival Washington.
With that said, the Ducks will need to find a way to neutralize Ohio State’s receiving corps. Emeka Egbuka is a well-known talent, but freshman WR Jeremiah Smith has made a ton of big plays and scored a team-high seven touchdowns from scrimmage.
If Oregon can slow down this potent Buckeyes offense, it should be able to keep this game within a score. I’m confident that it can get the job done, so I’m backing the Ducks to cover as 4-point home underdogs with my college football bet of the day.
Over 52.5 Points (-108)
Both of these teams have looked impressive defensively to begin the year, but they’ll be much more vulnerable as they take on their toughest opponent of the season. Besides, Oregon already gave up 34 to Ashton Jeanty and Boise State, while Ohio State has benefitted from playing some of college football’s worst programs.
The Ducks are prone to gaining a ton of yardage, while the Buckeyes have generated plenty of chunk plays. This game will be won on the offensive end, which is why I’m siding with the Over at this relatively low 52.5-point total.
