Chapel Hill will be rocking when the No. 12 North Carolina Tar Heels host the No. 25 Miami Hurricanes.
The Hurricanes’ meltdown last week saw them fall to a first defeat of the season. Meanwhile, UNC dealt a 40-7 beatdown to the Syracuse Tigers and has a slight betting edge for Week 7’s contest.
Here are our Miami Hurricanes vs. North Carolina Tar Heels college football picks and predictions for Saturday, Oct. 14, at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Miami vs North Carolina Prediction
SCORE PICK: North Carolina 31, Miami 27
Both of these squads have had unbelievable starts to their seasons and should both be undefeated heading into this matchup.
The Tar Heels, however, are the only team of the two with a perfect record, with their 5-0 start their first since 1977.
Their offensive dominance has been a big reason why. Drake Maye’s 442-yard, three-touchdown outing over the weekend is just one of many good games for the sophomore quarterback this season. Maye is a longshot in the latest Heisman Trophy odds update.
UNC should be able to cover the 3.5-point spread in this game, but not by much. Miami has had a bounce-back season after a disastrous 2022 campaign, and its defense is a big reason for that.
The Hurricanes rank 10th in the country in opponent points per game with just 14.6.
It is worth noting that Miami has not played nearly the same competition as many of the top schools in the country and allowed 23 points and a loss to its lone ACC competitor this season.
Miami vs North Carolina Best Bets
North Carolina -3.5 (-110)
DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 1 unit
North Carolina’s high-powered offense has been the catalyst for the team’s success this season.
The dynamic connection between Maye and Nate McCollum, the school’s leading receiver this season, has been electric from Week 1.
The duo was named ACC Players of the Week for their involvement in the 40-7 victory over Syracuse.
Miami’s defense has been stout all season, but where it has run into trouble has been with teams that are pass-heavy.
There’s no denying Tar Heels will rely heavily on their aerial attack with Maye throwing 77 passes in the last two games.
The Hurricanes have not run into a quarterback as good as Maye and will likely struggle to keep up.
Over 56.5 (-110)
DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 2 units
Both Miami and North Carolina have shown the ability to put up points in abundance this season.
UNC has not finished a game scoring less than 31, while Miami has just one game under 38 in its first five weeks.
Both defensive units have been good for the majority of their games, but each squad has shown weaknesses on that side of the ball.
This game should turn into a shootout with plenty of points to go around both ways.
There will be good defensive plays on both sides, but ultimately, these high-powered offenses will shine through.
Miami vs North Carolina Same-Game Parlay
Miami vs North Carolina SGP (+380)
DraftKings Sportsbook • WAGER: 0.50 units
- Over 55.5 (-110)
- North Carolina -3.5 (-110)
- North Carolina 1H -2.5 (-118)
We are going to utilize our two best bets for this Miami vs. North Carolina same-game parlay along with a leg of UNC first-half spread.
Miami’s slow start against Georgia Tech will simply not suffice against a Tar Heels squad that scored 27 first-half points in its last game and 28 the week prior.
The Hurricanes scored just three first-half points in their last game.
Adding North Carolina -2.5 first-half spread to our two best bets provides some juiced odds for those willing to risk a same-game parlay.
