This week’s college football slate is loaded, but one matchup you won’t want to miss features No. 9 Ole Miss (5-1) taking on No. 13 LSU (4-1) on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Rebels took their first loss in Week 5 but bounced back nicely this past weekend, crushing South Carolina 27-3. Meanwhile, the Tigers have won four straight since losing to USC in their season-opener and should be well-rested as they come off a bye week.
Who will come out on top in this SEC clash? Here are the latest Ole Miss vs LSU odds, plus my prediction and best bets for this year’s edition of the Magnolia Bowl.

Ole Miss vs LSU Prediction
Ole Miss 38, LSU 20
LSU may be No. 13 in the latest AP poll, but this team’s resume is looking less impressive each week. USC is responsible for the Tigers’ only loss, but the Trojans have since fallen out of the top 25. LSU’s narrow victory over South Carolina is also troubling given how Ole Miss dismantled the Gamecocks last week.
The Rebels were defeated by a frisky Kentucky team in late September, but the way in which they responded against South Carolina is an encouraging sign. Ole Miss had been largely unchallenged to that point, but they looked like one of college football’s best teams in the win.
There are certainly still things to like about this Tigers team, and it’s never easy for road teams to win a game at Death Valley. However, I haven’t seen enough from LSU to suggest that they’re capable of pulling off the upset against Ole Miss.
The Rebels will be prepared for their pass-heavy attack, and they have every reason to overwhelm the Tigers’ lackluster defense behind QB Jaxson Dart and RB Henry Parrish Jr. I expect Ole Miss to go ahead early and never look back.
Sportsbook Play of the Day
Ole Miss vs LSU Best Bets
Ole Miss -3.5 (-108) @ LSU
This spread isn’t at all indicative of how much better Ole Miss is than LSU right now. Their records are nearly identical, but the Tigers are clearly a tier or two below the Rebels.
LSU is getting some serious love on account of playing this one at home, and while that’s certainly warranted, it feels like Ole Miss should still be favored by about a touchdown, if not more. Rivalry games are always competitive, but I don’t see the Tigers hanging around for long.
Back Ole Miss as a slight road favorite with your college football bet of the day.
Under 63.5 Points (-110)
These teams are known for running up the score, but Unders have been far more prevalent for the two. Overs are 2-3 for LSU and 1-5 for Ole Miss this season, signaling that the Under could be a solid bet once more.
This 63.5-point total falls right in line with what we’ve seen in the Magnolia Bowl over the last few years, but I’m a believer in this Rebels defense. Ole Miss has allowed no more than 20 points in a single game this year, and they’ve only given up double-digit totals twice.
