The Houston Cougars will take on the Miami Hurricanes in the Sweet 16 Midwest Regionals in Kansas City. Both teams made the Elite 8 last season, and they’re looking to advance there again.
The guard play in this game should be fantastic for both teams, and this is an intriguing matchup between two varying styles of play, which we can use to our advantage to find value in props.

Houston vs Miami Game Props
Under 64 Points First Half (-115) • DraftKings Sportsbook
WAGER: 1 Unit
Houston has struggled in the first half in their first two games of the tournament, scoring just 30 points per game. They’re going to slow the tempo down, and I think this game starts slowly to keep the first half Under.

Miami hasn’t dealt with a team this season that has the defensive prowess of Houston, and they will struggle to get things going early. The athleticism and length of the Houston defense will give them fits, and this will be a grind-it-out half where the total stays Under.
The Cougars’ suffocating defense and their knack for slow starts make the first-half Under my CBB pick of the day.
Houston vs Miami Team Props
Houston: Over 72.5 Points (-120) • DraftKings Sportsbook
WAGER: 1 Unit
Houston can still get Over this number if they start slow, just like they have time and time again this season. The Cougars have the ability to turn it on at a moment’s notice, as they did with a 50-point second half to overcome a 10-point deficit against Auburn in Round 2.
Miami’s defense will not have an answer for the balance of the Houston scoring attack, and despite playing at one of the slowest tempos in the country, Houston is one of the most efficient offenses in the nation.
Houston vs Miami Player Props
Marcus Sasser: Over 17.5 Points (-105) • DraftKings Sportsbook
WAGER: 1 Unit
Sasser has been dealing with a groin injury the last two weeks but finally looked healthy against Auburn, where he shot 5-for-9 from three and scored 22 points.
Miami has been susceptible to big games from talented guards, including Indiana’s Jalen Hood-Schifino, who scored 19 points against the Hurricanes in the Round of 32.
Sasser missed out on last year’s run to the Elite 8, but he appears to be healthy and ready to shoulder the load offensively for the Cougars.
Nijel Pack: Under 17.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-120) • DraftKings Sportsbook
WAGER: 1 Unit
Pack has gone Over this number just once in the last five games, and he did so by scoring 21 points against Drake.
Not only is Houston one of the best rebounding teams in the nation, but opponents are ranked 240th in assists per field goals made against them. In short, it will be a challenge for Pack to reach his season averages in assists (2.5 per game) and rebounds (three per game).
Even if he reaches those numbers, he’ll need to score 12 points against a ferocious Houston defense, which is far from a given.
