England vs France World Cup Predictions

Last Updated: Dec 10, 2022

An enthralling European showdown between England and France awaits us on Saturday, with a place in the Semifinals on the line at the Al Bayt Stadium.

Both nations reached the Semifinals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, with France going on to lift the trophy and England falling to Croatia. It has been an impressive World Cup campaign for both sides this year, and this will be a highly competitive contest.

Let’s dive into our England vs France odds and best bets for this Quarterfinal matchup.

England vs France Odds

  • 3-Way Handicap: France (+130) | Draw (+225) | England (+215)
  • Draw No Bet: France (-140) | England (+110)
  • Over/Under Goals: Over 2.5 (+105) | Under 2.5 (-135)
  • To Qualify: France (-150) | England (+110)

England vs France odds are current as of 8 a.m. EST on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Caesars Sportsbook.

Oddsmakers are favoring the defending World Cup winners to advance to the Semifinals, but only by a slim margin. They are also expecting a low-scoring match as the Under is juiced to -135.

England vs France Prediction

England 2-1 France AET

With the high-profile players on both teams, it might feel like a high-scoring game is on the docket but this will be a tightly-contested match. The two nations have played great defense and controlled their games in the midfield up to this point.

It can be argued that neither nation has faced a strong side so far, especially with how easily they both won their groups.

England vs France Betting Tips

This is the third meeting between the two sides at the World Cup and the Three Lions won the previous two meetings in 1966 and 1982. However, Les Bleus have only lost one of their last eight matches against England and won their most recent meeting 3-2 in 2017.

France star Kylian Mbappé is leading the golden boot race with five goals, but compatriot Olivier Giroud and England wingers Bukayo Saka, and Marcus Rashford are all on his heels with three apiece.

There are a lot of young playmakers in this contest, but the English defense has been stellar so far. England have not conceded a goal since their opening match of the tournament, a 6-2 victory over Iran. And one of those goals was scored from the penalty spot well after the 90-minute mark.

England manager Gareth Southgate has faced a lot of criticism for his squad selection, especially on defense, but it looks to have paid off so far. Kieran Trippier has been the preferred starter at right back, but England may choose to go with Kyle Walker in this contest to combat Mbappe’s pace.

France entered this tournament without three of their best players, including defensive midfielder N’Golo Kanté, but his replacement, Aurélien Tchouaméni, has been stellar.

This is going to be an exciting match with both defenses being tested, but I think the Three Lions will win this match in extra time.

England vs France Best Bets

England to Qualify (+110)

WAGER: 1 Unit

Les Bleus’ quest to become the first back-to-back World Cup champions since Brazil (1958 & 1962) will come up short in the Quarterfinals. This is a very deep England squad, and they are equipped to defeat France, mostly due to the strength of their back line.

It may take longer than 90 minutes and possibly even penalties to finish this match, which is why I would bet on England to qualify instead of the moneyline.
