Jameson Williams is one of the most prolific wide receivers in the 2022 NFL Draft class. And while Williams had an underwhelming two-year stint with Ohio State, his first and only season at Alabama put the 21-year-old wideout with a 100th-percentile 40-yard-dash time on the map.
Emerging as QB Bryce Young’s top target, Williams torched the SEC with a 79-1572-15 stat line while averaging a ridiculous 19.9 yards per catch.
While Williams brings elite speed to the table, he is much more than just another fast prospect. Williams is explosive out of his stance and can gain separation at the drop of a dime to go along with his game-altering speed and quickness.
If you take into consideration his run after the catch ability plus his superb route-running, there aren’t many knocks on Williams’ game. The lone glaring issue is the torn ACL he suffered in his left knee in the 2022 National Championship Game against Georgia.
Jameson Williams NFL Draft Outlook
The Detroit Lions traded their 32nd, 34th, and 66th overall picks to the Minnesota Vikings for picks 12 and 46. With the 12th overall pick, the Lions selected Alabama WR Jameson Williams.

The Lions took a swing for the fences by trading up for Williams, who is viewed as a big-play threat anytime the ball is in his hands. He will join Amon-Ra St-Brown and T.J. Hockenson as Jared Goff’s top receiving assets.
Jameson Williams Fantasy Football Outlook
While the landing spot doesn’t appear great, it is not as bad as it seems. He could have gone to the Falcons and Marcus Mariota or to the Commanders and Carson Wentz. When Goff has weapons around him he has already proven he can support top-end fantasy pass-catchers.
Williams immediately has a WR2 ceiling in redraft formats and should be a top 5-7 player off the board in dynasty rookie drafts.
Since he has Goff as his quarterback, fantasy managers might be scared off. If you can especially snag Williams at a value, don’t pass him up.
