The Green Bay Packers avoided taking a wide receiver in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft, but they traded up to pick No. 34 in the second round to select Christian Watson out of North Dakota State.
Following the trade of Davante Adams, Watson should become a main fixture in Green Bay’s aerial attack with Aaron Rodgers targeting him.
Christian Watson NFL Draft Outlook
Despite being a taller wideout at six foot, four inches, Watson has great speed at the wide receiver position. In his final season at North Dakota State, Watson tallied 43 receptions for 801 yards and seven touchdowns.

Besides Adams, the Packers also lost Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency, and Watson gives them a vertical threat that averaged 20.4 yards per reception in college.
Watson will join a wide receiver room that features Allen Lazard, Sammy Watkins, Randall Cobb, and Amari Rodgers.
Christian Watson Fantasy Football WR Tips
On the surface, it may look like Watson is going to have plenty of competition at the wide receiver position, however, he should get plenty of opportunities immediately. At the very least, Watson could be a big-play threat that Rodgers targets similar to how he targeted Valdes-Scantling.
Watson is worth a look in dynasty leagues after the first round of rookie drafts due to the likeliness of him seeing the field early on in his career and getting to catch passes from Rodgers.
