Gonzaga vs USC Bet: 2021 March Madness Elite 8 Pick & Prediction

Last Updated: Mar 29, 2021

Gonzaga vs USC Bet: 2021 March Madness Elite 8 Pick and Prediction. The first weekend of the NCAA Tournament is in the books and we are onto the Elite 8! The top-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs will take on a strong six-seed USC Trojans squad in what is sure to be an excellent battle for a Final Four berth.

Even if your bracket is already busted, you can still get in the game. Read all of our 2021 March Madness betting picks and 2021 NCAA Tournament predictions.

Gonzaga has had an easy road to the Elite 8 considering they are the consensus best team in college basketball this year, toppling Norfolk State by 43, Oklahoma by 16, and Creighton by 18.

USC has had to fight a bit harder to get here, but everyone who watches college basketball knows they deserved to be much higher than a six seed. For reference, according to Ken Pomeroy’s ratings, USC was the sixth-best team in all of college basketball this season, demonstrating the absurdity of their six-seed placement. They crushed Drake by 16, destroyed Kansas by 34, and recently beat Oregon by 14.

The Trojans have been trouncing their opponents in this tournament in Gonzaga-like fashion, taking down some excellent basketball teams in the process. USC is a long shot to win this game outright considering just how good the Bulldogs are, but a nine-point spread seems like just too much to surrender if you’re looking to place action on ‘Zaga.

If the Zags play A+ basketball, they can beat USC’s A+ basketball by double digits, but all has to be going according to plan for the Bulldogs to make that happen. Expect a Gonzaga victory but with a USC cover.

As far as the game total goes, 153.5 is a very, very sharp line. The game stands a very good chance to be in the 150-to-160-point range when it is all said and done. Gonzaga has had more explosive offensive games by themselves and is capable of putting 80-90 points on the board, but USC’s defense can mitigate the odds of that happening.

I see no value betting on the total in this game, but if I had to lean one way, it would be the Over.
