Victor Oladipo Traded To Miami Heat: NBA Betting & Fantasy Basketball Outlook

Last Updated: Mar 25, 2021

The Miami Heat have acquired Victor Oladipo from the Houston Rockets via trade for Kelly Olynyk, Avery Bradley and a draft pick swap, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Oladipo was sent to Houston as part of the trade that sent James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets earlier this season. Now, the Rockets, who move towards a rebuild, will be sending their star to Miami. The Heat walk away from this trade without giving up key pieces such as Duncan Robinson or Tyler Herro, who were previously rumored to be involved.

Victor Oladipo Trade: Fantasy Basketball Outlook

Oladipo will take on a different role in Miami than what he was settling into with the Rockets. The Heat already have an established core of Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and the slumping Herro.

Adding Oladipo to this mix should help Butler and Adebayo sustain their fantasy production as they continue to fight for better seeding in a diminished Eastern Conference.

Olynyk and Bradley’s fantasy value probably remains the same despite the trade. Perhaps John Wall, Danuel House, and Christian Wood could see an increased workload with Oladipo out of the fold. The Rockets don’t have a whole lot else.

Miami Heat & Houston Rockets: NBA Betting Outlook

After winning an Eastern Championship crown and appearing in the NBA Finals, the Heat have struggled a bit this season. They are currently the No. 5 seed in a weak Eastern Conference with a .500 record. Acing this Oladipo trade bodes well for Miami, as they did not give up a whole bunch for an All-Star caliber player in return.

The Heat are currently +3000 to win the 2021 NBA Championship via PointsBet, and those odds just might be worth looking into. The 76ers are dealing with an injury to Joel Embiid (bone bruise), as the Nets are without Kevin Durant (hamstring) and Kyrie Irving (personal). If Oladipo can gel in Miami right away, the Heat have the star power to make another NBA Finals run.

Avoid the Rockets in any futures betting unless it involves the NBA Lottery or the NBA Draft. They are looking towards the future.
