USC vs Oregon Bet: 2021 March Madness Sweet 16 Pick & Prediction

Last Updated: Mar 26, 2021

USC vs Oregon Bet: 2021 March Madness Sweet 16 Pick. The first weekend of the NCAA Tournament is in the books and we are onto the Sweet 16! After the PAC-12 took over the first weekend, it makes sense that we see two conference teams go head-to-head in the Sweet 16.

These two schools met once this season at USC, and the home team won by 14.

In the NCAA Tournament, USC struggled initially against Drake, but ended up pulling away to win by 16 points. The Second Round game against Kansas was never really close. Oregon had a First Round bye, since VCU had a Covid issue that disqualified them. They came out of the gates fast against Iowa and never slowed down, putting up a season-high 95 points.

What can we expect from either team in this PAC-12 USC vs Oregon matchup? Let’s take a look.

This is one of the toughest games to predict of the Sweet 16. Not only are both teams playing their best basketball, they are also very familiar with each other.

This game is also a battle of strengths. It’s USC’s fifth-ranked defense against Oregon’s 10th-ranked offense.

The Ducks are playing well and shooting well. Their magic number is eight. Oregon is 15-1 this season when they make eight or more three-point shots. However, I’m more of a believer in defense, and USC has shown it consistently. They held Kansas to six made threes and Drake to seven. Oregon made only seven in the previous meeting with USC.

The Trojans also have Evan Mobley, who is only getting better. The freshman has 27 points, 24 rebounds, seven assists and six blocks in the tournament. I view him as the x-factor, as I don’t think the Ducks will be able to match up well with the seven-footer, who is a better player now than he was a month ago.
