Washington Football Team Signs Ryan Fitzpatrick: The Washington Football Team signed free agent quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to a one-year deal worth $10 million, which could increase to $12 million with incentives.

Washington Football Team Signs Ryan Fitzpatrick

The Washington Football Team added veteran quarterback Fitzpatrick to help ignite an offense that was stagnant for much of the 2020 season. The team hopes that he can coax more production out of their skill-players, particularly wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

Fitzpatrick should be able to develop an immediate rapport with McLaurin. The veteran signal-caller is an upgrade over the likes of Kyle Allen, Taylor Heinicke and Alex Smith. Washington is the ninth franchise that Fitz has played for throughout his 15-year career.

Fitzpatrick completed 68.5 percent of his passes for 2,091 yards (7.8 yards per attempt), 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions in nine games for the Miami Dolphins last season. He’s become a league-wide favorite as a bridge quarterback who can keep the team competitive during rebuilding seasons.

Washington 2021 NFL Betting Outlook

Washington is currently listed at +320 to win the NFC East and +6500 to win the Super Bowl on BetMGM, but I wouldn’t recommend either of these bets. Instead, I would suggest keeping an eye out for the team’s season win total. Adding Fitzpatrick makes this a better offense, but I would temper your expectations.

I would expect Washington’s win total to end up anywhere between 6.5 to 7.5 games.

While Fitz is an upgrade, he’ll be entering his age-39 season. Washington was able to capitalize on a weak NFC East in 2020, but things should change with Dak Prescott back in the fold for the Cowboys. The Eagles and Giants should also improve on their disappointing seasons. I would recommend betting the under on Washington’s win total due to a tougher division and a first-place schedule in 2021. I expect this team to finish closer to last than first place.
