Sunday Night Football Predictions Week 17 | SNF Picks & Vikings vs Packers Best Bets

Last Updated: Jan 2, 2022

At 7-8, the Minnesota Vikings will have to dig out of a massive hole in the next two weeks. They’re not mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, but it’s going to be extremely hard for the them to make the playoffs, even with two more wins this season.

First, the Vikings have to win both games, starting with a massive challenge going up against the Green Bay Packers, on the road, for Sunday Night Football.

The Packers, on the other hand, have already clinched the NFC North divisional title with a 12-3 record. They’re also playing at home in Week 17, where they are undefeated this season.

Here are our picks and predictions for Week 17’s Sunday Night Football matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers.

Sunday Night Football Prediction Week 17

It’s obvious that the Packers have played better than Minnesota this season, and with a 12-3 record, they’re on their way to the playoffs yet again. This time, they’ll be hoping for better results than previous seasons.

The Packers did lose 34-31 to the Vikings in Minnesota earlier this year, though, so a Minnesota win is certainly not out of the question.

However, the Vikings defense has looked atrocious of late, allowing at least 28 points or more in four of their last five games. Last week, the Rams knocked off the Vikings, 30-23. The Vikings just aren’t winning high-scoring games like they were earlier this season.

Meanwhile, the Packers have won four straight games and continue to pull out close victories. Like the Vikings, the Packers have allowed at least 28 points in four of their last five games, and haven’t looked sharp on the defensive end, either.

Another high-scoring game in Lambeau Field could be in play on Sunday Night Football.

SNF Week 17 Pick: Packers 38, Vikings 31

Sunday Night Football Best Bets Week 16

SNF Best Bet: Packers -6.5 (-120) at Caesars

Wager: 1 Unit

The Green Bay Packers are just different at home. With a 7-0 record in Green Bay, there’s a good chance the Packers offense finds their way against a Vikings defense that has allowed over 400 yards per game this season.

I will say that the Vikings have been a bit unlucky in close games recently, but overall, they’ve allowed 24.8 points per game, and that’s just not going to cut it in the NFL.

On the other hand, the Packers are very grateful for Aaron Rodgers. Without their stellar offense, Green Bay would be struggling. Their defense has held opponents under 350 yards per game this season, but they haven’t looked very good in recent weeks.

Still, I trust Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay offense in these spots, so I expect them to outperform Kirk Cousins and the Vikings in this one.

January games in Lambeau Field aren’t easy. But Aaron Rodgers has mastered it. Kirk Cousins has been involved in quite a few cold-weather games himself, and has plenty of weapons at his disposal.

When the Packers and Vikings play, there’s so much offense from start to finish. Both teams average close to 400 yards per game. If that trend continues on Sunday Night Football, we’ll be looking at a total over 60.
