Clemson vs Iowa State Predictions | Cheez-It Bowl 2021 CFB Pick of the Day

Last Updated: Dec 13, 2021

The 19th-ranked Clemson Tigers will face off with the unranked Iowa State Cyclones in the Cheez-It Bowl this season in Orlando.

Clemson (9-3) took a step back from last season when they had eventual first overall pick Trevor Lawrence, but they still managed to put together another respectable season under Dabo Swinney.

Iowa State (7-5) has not had the same fortunes recently as Clemson after dropping three of their final five games of the season. However, this team is better than their record suggests considering they played in the very tough Big 12.

All CFB gameday odds are courtesy of Caesars Sportsbook and current as of 11:00 a.m. ET on Monday, December 13.

Clemson vs. Iowa State Prediction

The Tigers come into this game as winners of five straight games, with one coming against a ranked opponent.

Clemson has allowed just 15.6 points per game to opponents across their last five games, while Iowa State has scored 33.6 points per game in that same time-frame. The latter number is a tad skewed to their most recent game, where they put up 48 points on a weak TCU defense, though.

Clemson is the far superior team in my eyes, and the odds here don’t make a ton of sense overall.

Cheez-It Bowl Prediction: Clemson 31, Iowa State 24

Cheez-It Bowl Best Bets

Best Bet: Clemson Moneyline (+100) at Caesars

Wager: 2 units

I’m backing the Clemson Tigers heavily in this bowl game. Iowa State is not a bad team by any means, but I believe in Clemson to win handily in this spot.

A few of Clemson’s premier talents may opt to sit out this game, but I don’t believe it will have enough impact on the game to sway my opinion here.

Back the Tigers all day long here for a two-unit play on the Moneyline.

Best Bet: Over 45.5 Total Points (-110) at Caesars

Wager: 1.5 units

This total is quite low for any college football game, especially because Clemson can cover this total all by themselves in this one.

My final score prediction represents this Over hitting by just about 10 points or two scores.

Back the over 45.5 points here for 1.5 units with the expectation that Clemson does a lot of the heavy lifting and Iowa State does their part as well.
