NBA Bets of the Day 11/08/21
NBA Betting Record: 2-1-0
Golden State Warriors vs Atlanta Hawks, 10:00 p.m. ET
Best Bet: Warriors -3.5 (-110) at Caesars
It might be early in the season, but the Golden State Warriors arguably look like the best team in the NBA right now.
Stephen Curry is playing at an MVP level, and he’s getting help from guys like Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green, among others.
Golden State owns a league-best 8-1 record, and they’ve beaten their opponents by double-digits in five of their eight wins. Backing a team on a back-to-back can be dangerous, but seeing that the Warriors were able to rest starters in the fourth quarter on Sunday night against the Houston Rockets, they should be relatively fresh for Monday.
The Atlanta Hawks have lost five of their last six games. Trae Young is seemingly trying to carry Atlanta right now, but he’s going to need more from the other members of the Hawks if they want to pull off the upset on the road on Monday night.
As the visiting team this season, the Hawks are 0-6 against the spread. With the Warriors finding their groove right now, I will confidently side with Curry at home against a team that is struggling to find their footing to begin the season, making this our NBA bet of the day.
Miami Heat at Denver Nuggets, 9:00 p.m. ET
Best Bet: Heat -1.5 (-110) at Caesars
In the early season where some teams are trying to find their identity, the Miami Heat sure look like legitimate title contenders in the Eastern Conference.
The addition of Kyle Lowry has opened up so much for Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo to begin the season. Meanwhile, Tyler Herro is showing flashes of being the same fearless scorer we saw in the NBA bubble two seasons ago.
With how well the Heat are playing right now, it’s puzzling to see them as only 1.5-point favorites over the shorthanded Denver Nuggets on Monday night.
Outside of Nikola Jokić, the Nuggets have struggled to stay consistent on the offensive end of the floor, as evidenced by them scoring the fourth-fewest points per game. Jamal Murray is sidelined to begin the season with a knee ailment, while Michael Porter Jr. has been ruled out for Monday due to a back injury.
In their first four road games this season, the Heat have covered in three of them, with their lone miss against the spread coming in the second game of the season against the Indiana Pacers.
I would definitely grab Miami at 1.5 points as the road favorites before the spread grows as the day advances.
Los Angeles Lakers vs Charlotte Hornets, 10:30 p.m. ET
Best Bet: Lakers -1.5 (-110) at Caesars
Yes, I know the Los Angeles Lakers have been an absolute mess this season. The decision to trade for Russell Westbrook hasn’t looked like the correct decision yet, with the Lakers falling to 5-5 on the season amid their current two-game skid.
While Los Angeles has looked out of sorts, this feels like a game where Westbrook and Anthony Davis set the tone at home against a young Charlotte Hornets squad. Neither of these teams play much defense, allowing the most and fourth-most points per game, respectively.
The Hornets are on a four-game losing streak themselves, allowing the Los Angeles Clippers to go on a 22-0 run to finish the game on Sunday night. With Charlotte on a back-to-back and getting beaten by 14+ in three of their last four losses, this is a perfect time for Los Angeles to gain some momentum.
The last five times that the Hornets and Lakers have met, Charlotte has failed to cover the spread. Even with Los Angeles being 1-6 against the spread at home this season, I expect the Lakers to improve that record to 2-6 at the end of tonight.
