The Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles will meet in Week 9 for a showdown between two of the NFL’s most exciting quarterbacks in Justin Herbert and Jalen Hurts.
The Eagles are coming off a dominant 44-6 victory over the winless Detroit Lions, but they’ll face a much tougher task this week and have yet to beat a legitimate playoff contender this year. The Chargers, on the other hand, will try to right the ship after back-to-back losses.
Will Philadelphia be able to pull off the upset at home? Or will Los Angeles get back on track with its first win since October 10?
Let’s dive in with our Chargers vs Eagles predictions and best bets. Please note that all NFL Week 9 odds and lines are current as of 2 PM EST on Friday, November 5.

Chargers vs Eagles Predictions
The Chargers losing to the New England Patriots last week coming off of a bye really shocked me. The Patriots had only beaten two of the worst teams in the NFL previously, and I figured Brandon Staley‘s team would take care of business at home. While I’m now out of all my survivor pools, I still have confidence in Los Angeles to bounce back this week.
The Eagles are similar to the Patriots in that they’ve struggled to beat good teams this year. They’ve consistently scored in the low 20s on offense, and their defense has been torn to shreds by good opponents.
One of the first things I look at when predicting a game’s outcome is the quarterback and head coach combo. The Chargers have the edge at both here, as Staley and Herbert are both among the best in their roles. LA also has crucial edges at skill player positions and on defense, making them even more likely to prevail.
Hurts, on the other hand, is playing for his job and Nick Sirianni hasn’t exactly impressed. While Hurts is athletic and one of the best rushing quarterbacks in the NFL, he has happy feet and really struggles past his first read. He also has issues completing short and intermediate-range throws, which makes me think he won’t be a starting signal caller for long.
Los Angeles historically plays deep safeties and dares you to complete those kinds of passes, and I’m not confident Hurts can do it. Look for the Chargers to rebound with a win here.
Prediction: Chargers 28, Eagles 23
