Houston Astros/Boston Red Sox Under 9.5 Runs (-125) at BetMGM

Both of these offenses are on fire. The Astros have scored 22 runs and the Red Sox have put up 27 runs in four games during this series. Each of the four games finished with at least nine combined runs. Chris Sale (14.73 ERA in 3.2 IP) and Framber Valdez (7.71 ERA in 7 IP) have each struggled this postseason. All signs point to another high-scoring game, so why am I playing the Under?

The reason is simple: 9.5 runs is simply too high of a bar in a playoff game, especially such a pivotal game with the series tied 2-2. You’re likely going to see both managers have a quick hook for Valdez and Sale, pulling their starters at the first sign of trouble. We’ve already seen this during the playoffs, with Valdez maxing out at 4.1 innings and Sale at 2.2 innings.

We also saw the pitching start to step up last game, as it was tied 2-2 heading into the ninth before the Astros put up nine runs in the top half of the inning. I expect that we’ll see a similar scenario in this huge game here. There’s a good chance that the winner of this game will win the series, so I’m expecting another close game.

Los Angeles Dodgers Moneyline (-222) at BetMGM

The Dodgers had a massive comeback win in Game 4, erasing a 5-2 deficit with a four-run eighth started by Cody Bellinger‘s three-run homer. That’s a demoralizing loss for a Braves team that has overachieved throughout these playoffs without superstar outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr.

The Dodgers turn to Julio Urias in this game. The young lefty struggled against the Braves coming out of the pen in Game 2, but we can likely attribute that poor outing to the fact that the relief appearance was a disruption in his normal routine. Prior to that, Urias had allowed only two runs in nine innings during this postseason.

It’s unclear who the Braves’ starter will be at this time, but it’s likely that whoever it is will have a short outing with the team leaning on the bullpen. While Urias will only be on three days’ rest, his last outing was only one inning, so he should be good to go for this game. Pay the high price on the better team with the pitching advantage at home.

ALCS & NLCS Parlay (+161) at BetMGM

At +161 odds, this MLB bet of the day looks solid. The Astros and Red Sox will likely stay Under the total in this huge matchup with the series tied at two apiece. The Dodgers are heavy favorites for good reason, as they’re coming off a massive comeback win that will be tough for the Braves to recover from, especially against such a formidable opponent.

Playing this two-team parlay will help you get exposure to the Dodgers moneyline without having to pay the hefty price. The +161 payout is still a solid reward for taking a Dodgers team that has a great chance of going up 3-2. Let’s keep it simple and go with a two-teamer in this spot.
