Chargers vs Ravens Predictions Week 6 | NFL Pick of the Day

Last Updated: Oct 15, 2021

Three teams are tied atop the AFC at 4-1, and two of them will meet up this Sunday when the Los Angeles Chargers take on the Baltimore Ravens. Though it’s still early in the season, this Week 6 showdown could also double as a playoff preview.

The Chargers feature a dynamic offense led by quarterback Justin Herbert, which was on display during Week 5’s epic 47-42 win over the Cleveland Browns. With Herbert and Austin Ekeler catching fire over the past few weeks, LA has scored at least 28 points in three straight games.

The Ravens are also coming off a wild Week 5 win after overcoming a 22-3 second-half deficit against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football. Baltimore has now won four in a row, proving that they’re never out of a game when Lamar Jackson has the ball in his hands.

With the 2019 NFL MVP set to face the 2020 NFL Rookie of the Year for the first time, this promises to be a terrific game. Let’s dig in with our Chargers vs Ravens predictions and best bets for NFL Week 6.

Please note that all odds and lines are current as of 4 PM EST on Friday, October 15.

Chargers vs Ravens Prediction

After seeing their record-tying streak of 43 consecutive games with 100+ rushing yards come to an end in Week 5, Baltimore will likely get back over the century mark in Week 6. While Jackson was forced to pass after going down by several scores, John Harbaugh will likely try to use his ground game to exploit LA’s weak run defense and control the clock.

The problem for the Ravens is that none of their running backs are very good. Aside from Jackson, their rushers lack explosiveness and will have trouble capitalizing on this enticing matchup. Jackson will likely need to pass to keep up with Herbert anyways, which could result in an interception or two by the Chargers’ strong secondary.

Baltimore’s defense is better against the run than the pass, which favors Los Angeles. The Chargers have no problem airing it out with Herbert, who has an impressive array of pass-catchers in Ekeler, Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Jared Cook.

Both teams are tremendously talented on both sides of the ball, so this game should go down to the wire. I think Los Angeles is just a hair better, however, and will come out on top.

Prediction: Chargers 28, Ravens 27

Chargers vs Ravens Best Bets

Best Bet: Chargers +2.5 (-105) at BetMGM

Wager: 0.5 Units

While both teams have elite quarterbacks, Los Angeles is the more complete team and should be able to stay close to Baltimore. The Ravens’ defense has allowed 273 passing yards per game this season, so Herbert should be able to take advantage and get the ball to his receivers for some points.

The Chargers also have a more reliable rushing attack with Ekeler, whereas Baltimore had trouble establishing the run against Indy and has struggled in the red zone this season. This game will be close and LA has enough firepower to potentially win it outright, so take the 2.5 points while you still can on our NFL gameday odds.

Best Bet: Over 51 Total Points (-110) at BetMGM

Wager: 0.5 Units

With both teams ranking in the top-10 in points, this game is ripe for scoring. Both defenses rank middle of the pack as well, so neither side should have too much trouble moving the ball and finishing drives.

Another thing to consider is that both kickers, Justin Tucker and Tristan Vizcaino, are very accurate. They’ve combined to drill 16 of their 18 field goals this year, so neither team is likely to leave points on the board when they’re forced to kick.

The key for this pick is that two excellent offenses are facing middling defenses, making the Over our NFL bet of the day.
