Rams vs Giants Predictions Week 6 | NFL Pick of the Day

Last Updated: Oct 15, 2021

The 4-1 Los Angeles Rams will travel to the meadowlands this week to take on the 1-4 Giants. Given the team’s respective records, the Rams have opened as double-digit favorites.

However, the Giants have been frisky, beating New Orleans and coming up short of wins against Atlanta and Washington. While Saquon Barkley is almost certainly out, the big question surrounds Daniel Jones, who may be out with a concussion.

If Mike Glennon does start, do the Giants potentially pose value as big home underdogs, or are they auto-fades against a loaded Rams roster?

Let’s dig into this matchup. Please note that all Rams vs Giants odds and lines are current as of 4 PM EST on Friday, October 15.

Rams vs. Giants Prediction

Unfortunately, the Giants are simply too banged up to compete with a team like the Rams.

Outside of Barkley and Jones, these are the players currently on the Giants injury list:

  • G Shane Lemieux
  • G Ben Bredeson
  • T Andrew Thomas
  • C Nick Gates
  • WR Sterling Shepard
  • WR Darius Slayton
  • DB Keion Crossen
  • LB Tae Crowder
  • LB Cam Brown
  • SS Jabrill Peppers

While there are reasons to back the Giants week-by-week, there’s no way they compete in this game. Especially since the Rams are coming off a tough loss, as Sean McVay is 11-5 against the spread (ATS) off of a loss.

The Rams boast a loaded roster, and I believe they’ll pick up a wire-to-wire victory this week.

Prediction: Rams 35, Giants 13

Rams vs. Giants Best Bets

Best Bet: Rams -8.5 (-110) at Caesars

Wager: 1 Unit

I don’t think the Giants find a rhythm at all.

With Jones under center and Barkley lining up behind him, the Giants rank at 21st in PFF’s offense grades, including 32nd in PFF’s rush grades.

Now, without Jones or Barkley, New York has to face a Los Angeles defense that ranks fourth in PFF’s defensive grades and first in PFF’s rush grades. With half of an offensive line, no quarterback, and no Barkley, there’s no way the Giants move the ball.

Meanwhile, Matthew Stafford has looked shaky at times, but he still ranks first among NFL quarterbacks in estimated points added per play.

Plus, Stafford has the seventh-highest adjusted completed percentage on throws 20+ yards downfield. This Rams offense has a dynamic, explosive component to it that the Giants offense will be missing without Jones on the field.

As I write above, this game will be a wire-to-wire blowout in favor of the Rams.

Best Bet: Rams Team Total Over 29.5 (-110) at BetMGM

Wager: 0.5 Units

The Giants’ defense is frisky but not very efficient.

The Giants and Rams defenses are virtually the same when it comes to the rush, but the Giants are allowing more estimated points added per play on dropbacks. (Courtesy of rbsdm.com)

On the season, New York is allowing nearly 28 points per game. That includes 44 to the Giants and 30 to Washington.

As mentioned, the Rams boast a dynamic and explosive offense. The Giants already rank 23rd in PFF’s coverage grades, and the defense now has zero shot against the Rams with their injuries.

I’m really high on the Rams in this game, and I’m willing to make a smaller-sized play on their team total as a result.
