MLB Props of the Day: Best Baseball Props Today 10/1/21
Josh Rogers, SP, Washington Nationals vs. Boston Red Sox (7:05 p.m. ET)
On the surface you would think to avoid this Boston Red Sox lineup, but their home/road splits are very significant. Over their last 30 games, they’re batting just .232 on the road with a 27% strikeout rate. They’ll also lose the designated hitter in a National League park, which makes them even more vulnerable.
Boston’s lost five of their last six games as their bats have gone cold, scoring three runs or less in all five of those losses. Josh Rogers has recorded at least four strikeouts in three of his five starts this year, including both of his home outings, making this a solid choice for our MLB bet of the day.
Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-135)

Sandy Alcantara, SP, Miami Marlins vs. Philadelphia Phillies (7:10 p.m. ET)
Sandy Alcantara has surpassed 5.5 strikeouts in nine of his 11 starts since the beginning of August, averaging 7.7 strikeouts per turn during that span. Accordingly, I’m shocked at the number posted for him today and expect it to jump to 6.5 or get significant juice.
The Philadelphia Phillies have nothing to play for now that they’ve been mathematically eliminated from the playoff hunt. They’ve also been scuffling lately, losing four in a row and scoring three runs or less in eight of their last 11 games. Between Alcantara’s strikeout ability and his favorable matchup at home, this is one of the best MLB prop bets today.
Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-105)
Wager: 1 unit
