MLB Props of the Day: Best Baseball Props Today 9/15/21
Cal Quantrill, SP, Cleveland Indians @ Minnesota Twins (7:40 p.m. ET)
Cal Quantrill has been tremendous during the second half, posting a 1.97 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP and a 63:22 K/BB ratio in 68 2/3 innings since the All-Star break. He’s recorded at least five strikeouts in nine of 11 starts during that span as well, including his last four outings in a row.
I’m not a huge fan of laying -160, so if the odds change to 5.5 with lower juice I’d endorse it. Quantrill is coming off one of his best performances of the year against these same Minnesota Twins in which he fired 7 2/3 innings of one-run ball with five punchouts. Minnesota has MLB’s eighth-highest strikeout rate in September at 24.6%, which puts Quantrill around a projected six strikeouts tonight and makes him one of the best MLB prop bets today.

Julio Urias, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (10:10 p.m. ET)
Julio Urias fits one of my models for Over strikeout props with a huge moneyline (Dodgers -360) and a relatively low total (8). The 6.5 number seems a little high given that Urias has averaged only 5.7 strikeouts over his last 12 starts, but he has notched at least seven whiffs in each of his last three appearances, making him one of the better MLB prop picks today.
Urias also has a cushy home matchup tonight against the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have MLB’s ninth-highest strikeout rate over the past 30 days at 23.7% (25.5% on the road). Urias has also pitched well in his two starts against them this year, striking out 15 while allowing just one run in 11 2/3 innings. Give me the Over here based on his recent history and Arizona’s elevated strikeout rate on the road.
