Odell Beckham Jr. 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook

Beckham got into only seven games last year before a torn ACL ended his season. When he did play, he received just 6.1 targets per game because of how run-heavy Cleveland’s offense was in the early stages of the season, when multiple Browns games were affected by inclement weather. Baker Mayfield started to air it out more during the second half of the season, however, so perhaps Beckham can rediscover his form in an offense that projects to be one of the best in football.

Beckham has exceeded 1,000 receiving yards in every season that he’s been healthy, so there’s no reason he can’t do so again if he’s able to stay on the field. At 28 years old, he’s not far removed from his prime and will have the best supporting cast of his career. He’s a gifted wide receiver who can score on any play, giving him a high upside that could potentially be unleashed this season.

The risk with Beckham is that Cleveland may continue to lean on the ground game, as Mayfield has only attempted more than 500 passes in a season once in his career. Mayfield started throwing more often down the stretch, however, averaging 38.4 pass attempts over his final five regular-season games. If that trend continues, that will mean significantly more targets and scoring opportunities for Beckham.

Odell Beckham Jr. 2021 Fantasy Football Draft Value (PPR)

Beckham is no longer the certified WR1 that he once was, but he’s definitely an upside WR2. If the Browns maintain their late-season passing attack, Beckham can return to the Top-20 at his position. This is a team that will score a ton of points, giving OBJ a chance at double-digit touchdowns for the first time since 2016. Beckham still has a high fantasy ceiling and is worth re-investing in after his abbreviated 2020 campaign.
