Chris Carson 2020 Fantasy Football Recap
Chris Carson quietly put together a productive campaign with the Seattle Seahawks in 2020 and continued to prove his ability as a dual-threat back. The Oklahoma State product rushed for 681 yards and accounted for an additional 287 through the air, resulting in a near-1,000-yard season. Carson carried the ball into the endzone five times and caught another four touchdown passes, matching his career-high of nine total touchdowns. Had he not missed four games in the middle of the season due to injury, Carson easily could have posted career-high stats across the board.

Chris Carson 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook
In the first half of the 2020 season, it looked as if we’d get a new-look offense for the Seahawks that allowed Russell Wilson to flourish. The Seahawks boasted one of the best passing offenses in the NFL, and Wilson was a front-runner in the NFL MVP race. However, the offense would become predictable in the second half of the season, causing Wilson’s chances of getting a single vote for MVP — which he has yet to achieve in his career — to crumble.
Amid Seattle’s display of flashy passing in the first half of the season, Carson was quietly putting together a productive campaign at running back. If it weren’t for a sprained foot that he suffered in the latter part of the season, Carson was well on his way to his third-consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season for the Seahawks. What was a positive sight to see from Carson last season was his continued role in the passing game, tying his career-high in receptions (37) and setting new career-best marks in receiving yards (287) and receiving touchdowns (4).
Despite reports that Carson could be departing in free agency, the bruising back returned to Seattle on a two-year, $10.4 million deal in the offseason. Carson doesn’t face much competition in the backfield, with Rashaad Penny, Travis Homer, and Deejay Dallas as the only notable running backs behind him on the depth chart.

Chris Carson 2021 Fantasy Football Draft Value (PPR)
Following a late-season collapse from his offense in 2020, Pete Carroll made it clear that the Seahawks intend to instill a run-heavy approach in 2021. Of course, Carroll wants to continue letting Wilson do what he does best through the air. But Carroll believes that making a concerted effort to run the ball more can help Seattle revert to being a Super Bowl contender. While limiting Wilson in any capacity seems counterintuitive, taking a run-heavy approach should help Carson’s value in fantasy football. Injuries are definitely a concern for Carson as he’s yet to play a full season in his first four years in the league. However, if Carson can avoid the injury bug, the fifth-year running back is poised to drastically exceed his value in PPR leagues, especially with a decent role in the passing game.
