Seahawks Pick D’Wayne Eskridge No. 56 Overall In 2021 NFL Draft
The Seahawks selected Western Michigan wide receiver D’Wayne Eskridge with the 56th overall pick in the NFL Draft. Eskridge joins one of the best receiving duos in football in D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Eskridge is an undersized receiver with a 5-foot-9, 190-pound frame who looks like a reach at this pick. He’s an explosive receiver who can be a downfield threat, but he’s also an unpolished route runner who looks like a return specialist in the early stages of his career.
Wide receiver was not an area of need for the Seahawks. For a team with limited draft capital, this looks like poor asset management.
D’Wayne Eskridge 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook
I don’t think Eskridge will be much of a factor in season-long fantasy football leagues in his rookie season. He’ll be competing for targets with Metcalf and Lockett. I think that he’ll be used as a return specialist until he refines his route-running abilities.
I won’t even consider targeting Eskridge in season-long formats. I’d go after Terrace Marshall over him without hesitation.
D’Wayne Eskridge Dynasty Fantasy Football Outlook
Eskridge would need the team to move on from Lockett (unlikely, considering the recent extension) in order to become a factor, even in dynasty leagues. This looks more like a developmental prospect that has a low floor and wide range of outcomes. Yes, he’s tied to Russell Wilson, but I’d avoid him in dynasty formats.
