The New York Jets pick Elijah Moore No. 34 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft on Friday night.

Jets Pick Elijah Moore No. 34 Overall In 2021 NFL Draft

The Jets selected Ole Miss wide receiver Elijah Moore with the 34th overall pick in the NFL Draft. Moore was expected to be selected in the first round, so this is a huge addition. Zach Wilson gets another weapon to go along with Denzel Mims and Corey Davis.

Moore is a terrific route-runner who can wreak havoc in the slot. He has the ability to beat man coverage and find soft spots in the zone. Moore makes up for his 5-foot-9, 178-pound frame with toughness and has the speed to beat opposing defenders downfield.

This is a fantastic pick for the Jets, who have dramatically improved their offense this offseason. Moore has the upside to become the best wide receiver on the team. He should have been taken in the first round, and the Jets should be ecstatic to get him at the top of the second.

Elijah Moore 2021 Fantasy Football Outlook

Moore is a polished prospect who can step right into a starting role, but he’ll have to contend for targets with Davis, Mims, and Jamison Crowder. If Moore looks good in training camp, there’s a chance that he takes over in the slot, rendering Crowder as a cut candidate.

Due to this crowded depth chart, I’d be looking to avoid Moore in season-long leagues. He’s the type of wide receiver who needs to be a target hog in order to thrive and that’s simply not going to happen in 2021. Moore will be available in the later rounds, but I’d be prefer to go after a rookie like Rashod Bateman.

This is not an indictment of Moore as a player, it’s just that we need to be patient with his development because he’s competing for targets with too many receivers. Consider Moore as an upside WR5 in his rookie season.

Elijah Moore Dynasty Fantasy Football Outlook

It’s an entirely different story in dynasty leagues. Moore should be able to ascend this depth chart by his sophomore season and I expect him to develop into the primary target in this offense. Moore has the upside to be a top-3 wide receiver in this class.

New offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur comes from the Shanahan coaching tree, so we can expect Moore to have plenty of opportunities to rack up yards after the catch. This is a scheme that suits his talents. I’d have no problem takeing Moore over other rookies with a higher draft capital, like Kadarius Toney. Moore looks like the next Tyler Lockett.

New York Jets 2021 Bet Tips With Elijah Moore

All New York Jets 2021 NFL Futures bets are provided by BetMGM and current as of Thursday, April 29, at 11 a.m. ET. (New BetMGM customers get a Risk-Free Bet of up to $600 by clicking here or using the code THEGAMEDAY.)

New York Jets 2021 Win Total Bet

  • Over 6 Wins (-110)
  • Under 6 Wins (-110)

The Jets have improved on offense, defense, and coaching, but even with Moore, this looks like a team that has a 7-win ceiling, making the Under the prudent play here.

New York Jets 2021 Bet To Make The Playoffs

  • Yes (+450)
  • No (-625)

The Jets would likely need Wilson and Moore to hit their ceilings as rookies to make the playoffs, so it’s not worth it to bet “yes," even with his nice value.

New York Jets 2021 Bet To Win AFC East Division Title

Jets To Win AFC East (+2000)

The Jets are still in rebuilding mode with a lot of holes on their roster, so even if Wilson had a Justin Herbert-like rookie season, it’s unlikely that it would result in a division title. Pass on this bet.

New York Jets 2021 Bet To Win Super Bowl 56

New York Jets To Win Super Bowl 56 (+8000)

The Jets are much closer to picking in the Top-5 again than winning the Super Bowl, so you shouldn’t even consider this bet.

Elijah Moore 2021 Prop Bet(s)

Elijah Moore to Win Offensive Rookie of the Year (+6600)

Moore won’t be able to have enough volume to contend for this award, so you should pass on this bet, even with this terrific value.
