My NHL goalscorer predictions went 4-2 last week, including a full sweep on Tuesday night.
I’ll try my best to replicate that result for tonight’s 10-game slate.
Here are my best NHL goalscorer bets today.
NHL Goalscorer Predictions Today
All hockey odds used for these NHL goalscorer predictions today are current as of Tuesday, Jan. 13, and courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
Jake Guentzel: Anytime Goalscorer (+175) @ Penguins
The Tampa Bay Lightning are the hottest team in hockey right now, having won a league-best 10 consecutive games.
Guentzel has been a key cog during this stretch, scoring five goals and adding eight assists. He ranks second among all Lightning players this season in goals (20) and sits third in shots (111).
The 31-year-old winger found the back of the net in Monday’s 5-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. While I don’t typically like backing players (or teams) on the second night of a back-to-back, Guentzel should be motivated to face his former team, the Pittsburgh Penguins, tonight.
He has failed to score in five career games against Pittsburgh, but I’m backing that to change tonight as my NHL pick of the day.
Alex Ovechkin: First Goalscorer (+850) vs Canadiens
Ovechkin is on a tear right now, having scored in four consecutive games. His most recent goal, a power-play strike in the first period of Sunday’s loss to Nashville, was the opening goal of the game.
Tonight, the NHL’s all-time leading scorer will face a Montreal Canadiens team playing the second game of a back-to-back on the road. In his first outing against the Habs this season, Ovechkin opened the scoring on the power play en route to a hat trick in an 8-4 victory.
NHL first goalscorer stats reflect well on the Capitals, who have scored first in 31 of 46 games (67.4%) this season, the most in the league.

Brady Tkachuk: Anytime Goalscorer (+145) vs Canucks
For my other NHL anytime goalscorer prop, I’m targeting Senators captain Brady Tkachuk.
The 26-year-old winger ranks third on Ottawa in shots (98) despite playing 20 fewer games than Tim Stutzle (106) and Dylan Cozens (101) due to injury. That aggressive approach is one we want to back in this market.

Tonight, Tkachuk and the Sens will take on a Vancouver Canucks team that has conceded at least five goals in the first four games of its current road trip (all losses). Vancouver is also playing on the second night of a back-to-back after falling 6-3 in Montreal on Monday, while Ottawa hasn’t featured since Saturday’s setback against Florida.
Tkachuk has scored in two of his last four outings, and five of his eight goals have come at home, so I like his chances to light the lamp on Tuesday.
