Giants vs Eagles Predictions Week 16 | NFL Pick of the Day

Last Updated: Dec 23, 2021

This Week 16 matchup features two hated NFC East rivals, with the Philadelphia Eagles (7-7) hosting the New York Giants (4-10) in a game that means much more for Philadelphia.

The Eagles have won four of their last six, beating Washington, the Saints and Broncos while losing close games to the Chargers and, surprisingly, this same Giants team in Week 12.

Meanwhile, the Giants are a wreck at this point, with Daniel Jones shut down for the season due to a neck injury. That means it will either be Mike Glennon or Jake Fromm in the rematch against the Eagles.

With a playoff spot hanging in the balance for the Eagles and the Giants playing for pride, let’s dive right into the best bets for this NFC East matchup.

Please note that all NFL gameday odds are current as of 3 PM EST on Thursday, December 23.

Giants vs Eagles Prediction

Going into this game both teams have one win in their respective situations. The Eagles are 1-4 at home while the Giants are 1-6 on the road. Regardless, the Eagles are favored by as many as 10 points in this matchup, and rightfully so.

Things have taken a turn for the worse when it comes to the Giants. They’re losers of three straight and no longer have Jones or wide receiver Sterling Shepard. They are simply depleted and are not the same team without Jones at quarterback, averaging 17 points per game (near the bottom in the league) while giving up 23.6 points per game.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia has put up 26 points per game, which ranks 11th in the league, and is averaging more than that over their last four games.

Philadelphia got quarterback Jalen Hurts back against the Washington Football team on Tuesday night after a few weeks out with injury. Hurts overcame an early interception that bounced off Dallas Goedert’s ankle to throw for nearly 300 yards, one touchdown and rush for two more scores.

On the flip side, the Giants went up against a tough Cowboys team with Mike Glennon under center. He threw three interceptions to put them out of reach in a 21-6 home loss.

Both teams aren’t the best on defense, but while the Eagles give up a lot on the ground, overall, they’re averaging the eighth-fewest yards per play in the league.

Rookie head coach Nick Siranni is eyeing a playoff berth in his first season as head coach, but they will have to take care of business against the Giants before looking any further.

With the Saints, 49ers, and Vikings in the mix and playing well, the Eagles cannot squander the opportunity of playing against a team like the Giants.

Prediction: Eagles 28, Giants 16

Giants vs Eagles Best Bets

Best Bet: Eagles -9.5 (-110) at Caesars

Wager: 2 Units

This is an easier game to pick, despite the fact the Eagles are being treated as one of the top teams with a -9.5 spread. It’s not as much about the Eagles as it is about the Giants.

The Giants are a dumpster fire right now. The Eagles are not going to allow the Giants and all of their injuries to walk into Philadelphia, sweep them in 2021 and cost them a playoff spot.

I expect another heavy dose of Miles Sanders, who went over the 100-yard mark for the second straight week against Washington, Jordan Howard, and Hurts to control the game for Philadelphia on the ground.

The rout is certainly going to be on, especially with how much is at stake for the Eagles to finish out the season.

Best Bet: Over 40.5 Total Points (-110) at Caesars

Wager: 1 Unit

When you combine the Giants’ points scored and points allowed averages, you get 40.6 points. Meanwhile, Eagles games have averaged 48.3 points.

Philadelphia is the sixth-most efficient red zone touchdown offense in the league, and while they have struggled in the red zone of late, they already showed against the Jets in Week 15 that they can take advantage of bad teams.

I advise taking the Over here, as I do think the Giants will find a way to put some points on the board. The Eagles will also score enough to cover. However, I’m way more confident in the Eagles spread than I am the Over, so keep that in mind when making your bets.
