MLB Bet Of The Day 9/22/21
Atlanta Braves @ Arizona Diamondbacks (9:40 p.m. ET)
- Probable Pitchers: ATL RHP Ian Anderson @ ARI RHP Merrill Kelly
This is one of the more lopsided matchups on today’s slate with the first-place Atlanta Braves taking on the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have the worst record in the National League. As expected, Atlanta has dominated the series thus far, winning the first two games by a combined score of 17-5.
The Braves will shoot for their fourth straight win tonight against Merrill Kelly, who’s 7-10 with a 4.41 ERA this season. He’s been rocked over his last two starts, however, allowing nine runs on 21 hits in just 9 2/3 innings, surrendering three homers as well.
Atlanta has had a strong offense all year and has been one of MLB’s best-hitting teams in September, ranking ninth in wOBA (.327) and second in ISO (.223) this month. The Braves also lead all NL teams with 33 homers this month, averaging 1.8 per game.
With favorable splits against right-handers this year (.761 OPS vs. RHP / .732 OPS vs. LHP), Atlanta will make Kelly pay if he continues to leave balls over the plate, especially at the hitting-friendly Chase Field. The Braves are still fighting to secure the NL East flag while the Diamondbacks haven’t played a meaningful game in months, so look for Atlanta to come out swinging against Kelly.
Baseball Bet Of The Day: Braves Over 2.5 Runs In 1st 5 Innings (-115)
